Just the Right Turn Signals

Post by jcarter »

I need help. My car has an issue with right turns. I've searched through the forums and can find a lot of turn signal issues, but nothing like this. The turn signals on the right (front and rear) side are no blinky. But when I turn the lights on, I get the DRL/side marker light. The left side blinks fine. Oh and no hyper flash to indicate a burnt bulb.

Here's what I've done:
1. Swapped bulbs and sockets from right to left.
2. Checked the only fuse I could find, Hazard in the fuse box under the hood.
3. Cleaned the ground.
4. Checked power at the socket.
a. Power to the DRL side.
b. No power to the Turn side.
5. Replaced the relay flasher.
5. Replaced the turn signal switch.

I just purchased a Test Light,3-60V DC Bidirectional Voltage Circuit Tester... I just don't like just poking around. Starting point?

When you use the hazard or the right turn signal, does it light up the right turn indicator in the instrument cluster? When you use the right turn signal, can you hear the flasher relay clicking?

I attached a wiring diagram for an 03 Matrix turn signal circuit, should be the same as your Vibe, including wire colors
if either the hazard or gauge fuse was bad, the left side wouldn't work

If you don't get the instrument cluster light or hear the flasher relay clicking, then

I might start by pulling the flasher relay, and looking for a pin in the relay socket that gets continuity to ground when you flick the turn signal switch. Don't know how easy it is to see wire colors or pin numbers on the socket, but the green with red stripe wire on pin 5 should get grounded when you pick left, green with orange on pin 6 for right.

then I might use a jumper of some sort to put 12V somewhere in the right turn signal side, either the green w/yellow pin 2 of the flasher relay socket, or maybe drop 12V on the green w/yellow pin of one light bulb sockets and see if the other lights up.

Any chance that the car was at some point set up for trailer lights?

Hit the turn switch or flasher I get the turn light on the dash and the relay clicks. I have to admit that the OEM relay was hyper flashing and the new relay (LED Ready) does not... I will check out the wiring diagram.
