First let the shop do. trust me. The reason you can see my 6.5 is cause they had to cut out the original grills to get them to fit. The magnet is huge and will block your window if not set up this way. It took 5 hours by a pro, and not sure what you skills are i would rreally advise against it, unless money is tight.

that's great. tell them to cut out your stock grills, and replace with the MOMO ones. looks 100% better, and makes a better fit.

I just installed Polk EX3560 component speakers in my car tonight. I haven't had time to sort out the pictures and I'm leaving tomorrow, but I will hopefully post them Sunday. It was easy. I did however use the stock grilles (less advertising, less likely to be stolen). Crutchfield sent me a bracket that adapted between the door and speaker. The only item I bought were 2 bolts, nuts, washers for mounting my tweeters on the stock mounting bracket. You need a drill to drill out the rivets that hold the stock speakers and just some basic tools, like ratchet set and screwdrivers. The only thing I haven't completed yet is a slight modification to sail piece (where the stock tweeter is). The new tweeters have a slightly bigger frame and I need to sand down a lip a bit, but it should be cake. Also, reference this thread: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1363 Also of note, I paid $150 at Crutchfield for the set. I know they don't say MOMO, but they sound great. If you spend $200 or more at Cruthfield and use my referral code you get $20 off your order and I get a $20 credit to boot. code: p7tiq-j38rv-r5w2c

Well, the MOMO on the speakers is not just for looks. They are one of the best for sound quailty and completely redesigned from just the Polk's. The magnet is as large as the whole speaker. They rank right next to MB Quart.

My buddy did that in his stupidly large 79 GMC step-side. He would just yell at people walking. It was alot of fun, i must admit.

IMHO, this is like the using higher octane gas thread. If you want to spend the extra $ go for it. You probably aren't getting that much better sound quality, especially not off a stock amp. Actually that big ol' magnet will probably make life worse the stock amp. Then again maybe you're paying for the looks if that is important to you. My 2 cents. Do as you please.

yeah i had them take the badges off the tweeter and i am planning on mounting it on the gill but probably along the botum on the edge that runs paralell to the windshield. they mounted the crossovers on the door panel in a block of foam
