I got in touch with http://www.glasstek.com/ to talk to them about doing a custom fiberglass scoop hood for the 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibes, since no one makes anything for us.Here is the information they gave me:1) They can and are willing to make one2) The cost for making the mold is $3,000! However if we can get around ten people (they said maybe 8-12) to place an order, then the mold cost is FREE 3) They will need a Vibe to take hood measurements from. I am willing to donate mine for a while if we do this b/c we have a second car.4) If we wanted the G8 style hood, we'd have to find a G8 or G8 hood for them to make a mold from. Otherwise we can see what they've already got that we like.5) The cost per hood is under $500 which is easily comparable to any of the prefab ones I've seen online for other carsSo the question is...Do we have enough interest? If so, do we want to pursue the G8 style hood, or try something else? These guys do ship from what I can see on their site. They also do good work. I'm willing to do some pickups for local people as well to avoid shipping.

If we want to do a G8 thing we can find a hood somewhere to give themhttp://www.autopartswarehouse....5uU9IEven something in this style would work if we can't find a G8 (from their website)

it will be cheaper to buy a hood scoop and have it fiberglassed or molded into your OEM hood then painted. probably can do the whole thing for $500 painted.

Again it was something we were talking about in another thread, so I figured I'd post to see if there was any actual interest!

I wouldn't want massive scoops like a Trans Am. I would want something much more subtle like the G8.Hey Michelle, you should photoshop that hood on your Vibe (since it's red ) so we can get a better idea of what it would look like.

ah i see. I once bought a hood for my Vibe back in the day. unfortunately, he was a scammer. Luckily I got all my money back after disputing it, but others weren't so lucky. Make sure you go thru a legit company.
You can count me in if the artwork & all were to go well I assume they've done hoods before and are familiar with the reinforcement areas where hinges & latches get mounted. Also they'd need the inserts on the G8 hood so those could be duplicated also. If this were to materialize and become reality, they'd be sitting on a gold mine at our initial expense Say 10 or so FULLY commit, then the hoods are fabricated, delivered, etc. THEY own the mold and can then "build to order" as many as the demand allows after us 10 pay the upfront cost. For them it's a "win-win" situation. Once the word would get out, you'd start seeing every 09/10 Vibe sporting this hood
If it's a quality well-made product (as Tim mentioned), and G8 style, I'm in! I'm picky ... I think I would only be interested in G8 style (not something sticking out or up).
hate to bring back an old thread, but I would totally be in on getting one of these, If the interest is still going on my thoughts are, I think a mazdaspeed3 hoodscope looks and actually functions not like those lame genesis and challanger ones, we could carry the triditional twin port theme like the g8 but smaller slits, at the g8's hood is much wider than the vibe is it not? Anyways lets bring this up, also anyone who has an intake will get a slight performance boost and also allow colder air thru the cabin vents for those summer days with ac or just for the feel lol.
Yeah this is an old thread BUT a lot of us would still love to see this become reality I am sort of hoping that SOMEBODY out there suffers some serious hail damage to their hood where it becomes junk, then I could buy it cheap and work it into a nice G8 GT style hood. The only problem would be that this would simply be a "one time" mod. No mass production at all. I'm keeping my eyes open for a trashed 09-10 hood in my area

According to car-parts.com, there is one near you. Wrong color and not cheap.

Thanks for the tip Ron. When I actually get serious about this I'll follow up on these leads. For now I'm sticking to the small mods that I can do out of my basement. Even those will have to wait till the fall and into winter Just too busy and somewhat LAZY
has anyone tried putting on one of those universal ones on? you could drill holes thru the hood to actually allow air to flow in simple and would cost more time and money
