'Don't know about clearance, but they are too big for the 6.5" OE wheels. And there will be other problems too.1) Will bulge on the OE wheels. Bad for ride and handling.2) Added unsprung weight. Bad for power, handling and fuel mileage.3) Added mileage on the ODO. Bad for resale value, fuel mileage calculation.Stick with something that will fit properly (circumference especially) and you'll be much happier in the long run. Up-size to a plus 1 size if you must, but be conservative (17" or 18") or you'll likely do more harm than good. Your ride will be unsafe, and a handful in day-to-day traffic.

225 seems really wide. I agree with 06pvibe, stick with something that will fit the wheel properly. I had 205/60/16 on my car for a while and many other members have done the same.

The width difference between a 205 and a 225 is 2cm, not a HUGE difference.. not one that I'd be overly concerned about on a passenger car... If it where my show/race car, I'd be much more concerned... The height difference is nominal as well, as long as you know it will change the speedo slightly...
You have it backwards PVibe - the taller tire will result in FEWER miles for a given speed. It may actually result in a MORE ACCURATE speedometer because the factory calibration seems to be about 4% too high. The 225/55 is about 3.5% taller so your speedo should be about dead on.As for fit, there seems to be plenty of wheel well room on the Vibe so I would not expect any issues. They will appear to bulge off the rims just slightly but I doubt anyone but a very experienced driver would ever notice any driving difference.
Ive had 225/50/16 on the stock alloys with no problem plus that size is almost an exact replacement for the 205/55/16 tires. I have 215/55 on my stock alloys for winter (Dunlop winter sport M3) and have had no problems. Like they said, I wouldn't go much above a 17" with a 235 /45 tire. much bigger and lower profile and you'll run the risk of wheel damage and rougher ride. Good luck!

I don't know about the clearance, but I would be concerned about hydroplaning. My car was terrible on wet roads using the factory 205/55R16 tires that came on it. I normally drive by myself, so the car is light. Keeping it on wet roads in Louisiana was a challenge, and heaven forbid you try to use the cruise control. I went to a tire with high ratings for handling wet roads and it improved a lot. Wider tires will make driving on wet roads worse. Just my 2 cents worth.
