Cheers,Aaronone of my favorite towns, I have some really good friends there and we try to make it at least once a year to get tattooed. If you're interested in some work I can recommend a great shop called No Regrets, you can find them online at
http://www.noregretstattooemporium.com ..Tony Max is our regular artist, he's got a sleeve in progress on both the wife and I. The other shop guys are great as well. Not sure if you'll have much down time, but there is a killer indie/rare/underground movie rental joint called Black Lodge Video (831 S Cooper St). Good for finding oddball movies if you have a night just to lounge around.Excellent food and good live bands can be found at the Young Avenue Deli
http://www.youngavenuedeli.comA fantastic place for breakfast is the Beauty Shop
http://www.thebeautyshoprestaurant.com ..also on Cooper Ave. A little pricy but a nice place to go the morning after a long night out. Not open every day, so you may want to check the hours. Right next door is a pretty cool cat rescue that is teeming with kitties. Good for the soul.Lots of cool shops in the Cooper-Union area.Downtown is pretty nice to walk around, several art galleries, a swanky old hotel called the Peabody (famous for the ducks that wander around in the lobby and elevators). You can take the elevator up to the roof and get a great view. Nearby is the Gibson Guitar museum, SUN studios and the Lorraine hotel where MLK was shot (across from the newer Civil Rights Museum). There's a big mall downtown as well. Prepare to be panhandled Lots of fantastic graffiti if you're into that (we are). I'd be lying if I said I hadn't contributed some art downtown myself. Probably long gone.Oh, and depending on the way you're going you might cross through Bowling Green Kentucky on the way down or back. Not too far off your path I don't think (we stop there to visit family) and the National Corvette Museum is there. have fun man, take lots of pictures!
