Cheers,Aaronone of my favorite towns, I have some really good friends there and we try to make it at least once a year to get tattooed. If you're interested in some work I can recommend a great shop called No Regrets, you can find them online at http://www.noregretstattooemporium.com ..Tony Max is our regular artist, he's got a sleeve in progress on both the wife and I. The other shop guys are great as well. Not sure if you'll have much down time, but there is a killer indie/rare/underground movie rental joint called Black Lodge Video (831 S Cooper St). Good for finding oddball movies if you have a night just to lounge around.Excellent food and good live bands can be found at the Young Avenue Deli http://www.youngavenuedeli.comA fantastic place for breakfast is the Beauty Shop http://www.thebeautyshoprestaurant.com ..also on Cooper Ave. A little pricy but a nice place to go the morning after a long night out. Not open every day, so you may want to check the hours. Right next door is a pretty cool cat rescue that is teeming with kitties. Good for the soul.Lots of cool shops in the Cooper-Union area.Downtown is pretty nice to walk around, several art galleries, a swanky old hotel called the Peabody (famous for the ducks that wander around in the lobby and elevators). You can take the elevator up to the roof and get a great view. Nearby is the Gibson Guitar museum, SUN studios and the Lorraine hotel where MLK was shot (across from the newer Civil Rights Museum). There's a big mall downtown as well. Prepare to be panhandled Lots of fantastic graffiti if you're into that (we are). I'd be lying if I said I hadn't contributed some art downtown myself. Probably long gone.Oh, and depending on the way you're going you might cross through Bowling Green Kentucky on the way down or back. Not too far off your path I don't think (we stop there to visit family) and the National Corvette Museum is there. have fun man, take lots of pictures!

completely forgot to mention the Memphis Zoo. Not too pricey, really nice facility and conveniently located to Midtown (our friends in town live in Midtown and we could walk to the zoo when we were there). The local parks are nice, although when we were last there the city had cut the lawn upkeep out of the budget so they were a bit overgrown. Not sure if its still that way, but I think local volunteers were keeping up with it. If you get the urge to go out to a movie, the Malco Studio on the Square is a nice venue (and you can buy beer and wine with your movie ticket, a nice perk).Anything in particular you're looking to do?

Go to Graceland. I would say Nashville but it's like 4 hours away or something crazy. Look into Lynchburg and check out the JD distillery.

So, now i'm thinking pretty seriously about moving... There is ANYTHING for me in Mi, besides my family... I can't make a decent living to save my life... I mean, I live in a "Blinker Town" which is one with a single streetlight and it BLINKS, yellow on one side and red on the other... lol... It's time to move... My sister is moving to Poland in mid-November... I've already been told I have a place to stay until then... I think the choice is obvious.. I have a problem though, my dad... He went through a pretty good bout of cancer over the winter... I fear it's not over and he says he'll die, before he goes through that again... At this point, he's no longer willing to get a PET scan to check for tumors. He says he's not afraid to die.. I'm his hands and feet most of the time...

tough call, man. I know that feeling (why do you suppose the wife and I live in West by-god Virginia? ). You need to do what's right for you and yours, and sometimes that means not doing what you want to do. Any chance your dad would want to pick up and move? See more of the world? Might do him some good. Houses in midtown Memphis aren't terribly expensive to buy or rent, and they're typically pretty huge.. (I say this because we've seriously considered the very same move, to the very same place for the very same reasons).

He used to be adventurous, but that was a long time ago.. He wouldn't be able to deal with the black element anymore... He couldn't leave his farm behind... The garden, the cows, chickens... It'd be too expensive, I'm sure... I can't let that keep ME down though... I have to liveI mean, I'm not hurtin for a job YET, but it won't be long... I'm not opposed to doing what I have to to survive, but I also have an education that should keep me off the road crews.. Actually I applied for a managerial position for Direct TV... I used to do SAT installs, so I know what it takes, I could manage some people..lol..
