HELP! Peripheral iPod Interface

Post by lovemyraffe »

I am now officially sick of having my cheap-@$$ stock stereo not play CD's for who knows what reason. After talking with a few local shops about Peripheral, I've come to a few conclusions.1. This is the best one for the money2. I can just buy this and install it myself3. I must buy an adapter to install it to my stock radio4. I cannot install it myself or I risk destroying the entire universe5. Nobody nearby can give me a straight answerCan anyone tell me which kit I need and whether or not I need an adapter to disable the thing-a-ma-jig hiding under the drivers seat?

Which Peripheral iPod kit were you considering? Which headunit does your Vibe have?

I'm sure your question makes perfect sense to you but you may indeed be the only one it makes sense to.You want to put in an aftermarket stereo head? You want to hook an iPod up to your factory radio? You want an afermarket head with iPod capabilities? What's under your seat?????????? Is this a guessing game?Have you already looked as a particular audio item and want others opinions on if its a good thing or not?I for one, haven't a clue what you want to do except you desire put in an iPod adapter somehow. Tell us specifically what you want when all is said and done.Dave

What you are probably wanting is to get the iPod2car. If you do a search on that you can find alot of information. I just installed this last summer and my wife uses it more than the radio. I found how to's and other great info. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=26800There is also a thread on what will work for what set up you have.

All you have to do is make sure you have the cd/aux button and your golden. To answer your questions.1. Yes Peripheral makes an awesome piece and can be found for under $1002. You hsould have no problem installing it a plug, 2 wires and 2 dip switches.3. Peripherals new kits include the harness you need.4. only if you attach a bomb5. no corners.Sorry Im a few days late on this, hope it helps.Peripherals website says that it will only work with 03-05 not compatiable with 06-currentAron

I used this one on mine.1. mm I think it retailed for 100-120, so its not cheaper than a fm transmitter or the "diy audio one"2. yes the install was easy.3. no this comes with everything for the stock 1 disk4. its 2 plugs and 2 wires that get "screwed" or tapped in its easy5. Hmm maybe you should find a new neighbor? a genvibe one?! The ONLY issue I had with mine was that the "power" source I used was always on, I should of found the one that was on only when the HU was on. Because my ipod couldnt be left plugged in or it would stay charging even if the car was off. Otherwise it was good.

Like I said it was just a different power wire you have to tap.

Parnell, I must be going blind, you did say that and I somehow missed it. Why is it that after we do something and finish it we are to lazy to change it later on? Aron
