I have encountered a problem involving the headlights on the Vibe. I work on a Naval Base and on the few times I drive the Vibe (wifes car) to work, (6 am, dark) naturally, I have to go thru the security gate to get on base. One of the requirements, which has been for years, is to turn off your headlights as you come to the gate to enable the security guard to be able to see the base sticker on the windshield without being blinded. Well, every time I've taken the Vibe to work, I get a mild (removed)-chewing from the guard because I don't/can't turn off the headlights. Any way around this? I don't use the headlight stalk, just let them automatically come on when I pull out of my garage.
Mikey - You have run afoul of the dreaded and oft-discussed Daytime Running Lights/Automatic Headlight "feature" of the Vibe. Use the forum search feature to find other discussions on this topic, including how to disable these dubious features. I think someone said that a dealer would disable the DRL function if a suitable reason (like base rules) were given. - Earl

Not far enough to engage the brake, but far enough to activate the switch.I think the D.R.L.'s on the Toyota based Vibe is a P.I.A.
