has anyone installed the aem pulleys on their vibe/trix? and if so had any poblems...

theres been problems with cosmo pulleys i think, AEM though i havnt heard good or bad about, there supposed to be good, but as well there was a problem with atleast the other pulleys that caused oil pumps to shatter(not good at all), i would do more research around myself read reviews for even other cars as every little but helps
AEM don't supply a crank pulley so it ahouldn't be dangerous. Not much gain though.

Only the crank pulley can cause the imbalance/vibration problem. Accessory pulleys aren't an issue. AEM doesn't supply the crank pulley. Check your second (earlier) link. I brought it up. Got it from the Celica forums.

I don't think the AEM pulleys are worth it. Only tiny amounts of power can be gained from changing the alternator pulley. They are just for looks in my opinion.I was looking at underdrive pulleys, but decided against possibly destroying my vibe. Thanks to some people here for educating me.

The problem with the aftermarket pulleys is that they lack a harmonic balancer on the crank pulley. That is what was causing the oil pump to shatter which in turn caused the engine to fail. I would also imagine that a poorly balanced accessory pulley can cause premature wear on the bearings in that accessory, though.

The accessory pulleys don't have balancers and are lighter than stock so that any effect of machining errors would be reduced over stock. Again, I don't think they are worth the effort unless you like the pretty colors. The crank pulley also effects the crank bearings but the oil pump is the first to go. It may be related as the pump is driven off the crank.
