I hear a lot have been doing that... been watching the news. hope the water goes down soon. Our daughter's in-laws' a few blocks away did, to a depth of ~18" in their basement, but the closest we came was a slight rise of the water in the basement shower drain; a narrow escape! Streets are now clear and the further 50 mm (2") of rain forecast fortunately has not occurred (so far...) but the damage is in the millions (a ton of $$ for a city of 70,000) and much of it not covered by insurance. When I was at Home Depot yesterday, there was a crowd of 60-80 people waiting to have their names called for purchase of pumps, which they brought in from all over the province. (Oops! Managed to hit 'Reply" instead of 'Edit'. Guess anything worth saying is worth saying twice...)
Well hopefully this warm weather we are having today will help draw back some of that water. guess this is not the first time there has been a flood, was one 40 years ago or something the news was saying?

Yeah; lots of stinky carpets, furniture, etc. out by the curbs for pick up. What will really stink though is when the insurance reps start pointing out the squint print in the homeowner's/renter's contracts. "The large print giveth but the small print taketh away"
I was watching the news earlier, showed coverage of stores that got damaged... I feel bad for all the store owners on basement level areas that got flooded right out. That mall that the entrance is downstairs had water up past the door... thats gotta hurt...

i'm not sure EXACTLY but i'm 98% sure that the Renessance (sp?) festival is on that weekend and that's located at the Milton/Mississauga border...i can look into it if you any of you are interested.(large park area where it's all medival stuff (jousting, drinking, and fair maidens!) and there are fireworks at night and food/beer/etc.)ok found the site:http://www.rennfest.com/orf/index.htmlit runs for most of the summer with the 'grand finale' labour day weekend...that's when the fireworks are on ( i can sorta see them from my back yard...)
I have signatures turned off so I'm not even sure what mine says in this space!
that sort of like a medievil times dinner and theater sort of thing? I have been do that at Canada Place or what ever its called there, that was a lot of fun. maybe we could do a meet in the area so we can see the fireworks also.

that'd be pretty cool. when we lived in england, we used to go to belvoir castle every year to watch their jousting tournament. was always cool to see them sword fight. the first time we went, i guess one of the guys was off from the choreography and didn't block a hit. he got sliced in the face and they had to rush him to the hospital. granted, the blades are dull, but they hit each other pretty hard.... so i was glad i was far up on the hill so all i saw was red when he went down.
