Performance Header?

Post by Shadow-Vibe »

Does anyone know of a performance header made for the Vibe or Matrix? If not how many people would be interested in one? I have a local guy that may be willing to make some if he gets a lot of offers for them!!!

I've seen them before, not sure where though. There was a discussion a while back about a performance header for our engine. Someone actually put one on their car and had a dyno test done. The results were minimal. Perhaps if you put a performance header and a unichip you'd see better results.

Need Dyno. I believe there's also one put out for the 1ZZ by Hot Shot, there's the Trial header from Japan for the 2ZZ (pricey!) And DC Sport has one in the making for both 1ZZ/2ZZ that's being proto on a few Celica's I believe. Slowly but surely, we'll have more choices! I had a Pacesetter on my Sunfire. Biggest improvement out of all my mods!

I'm confused as well...Anyways, the AMSS header is one to stay away from. No gains and possible loss.

Apparently, the stock GT header is as highly tuned as possible (or close to it). It might be different for the 1zz motor, and based on JP's product description, I assume their header is for the 1zz only:Quote »Our headers use the highest quality T-304 stainless steel, CNC flanges, mandrel bent tubing and two stage ceramic coating. Precision welding techniques ensure excellent durability and accurate fitting to factory locations. Designed for use with TRD Supercharger in mind, but will work with normally aspirated motors as well. 5hp-9hp (Normally Aspirated Applications)My translation: This header is for the 1zz engine with gains being more substantial when used with a TRD supercharger, which is only abailable for the 1zz

Yes the header is for the 1zz only. The exhaust mainfold on the 2zz is highly designed and does not need to be replaced. The 1zz on the other hand, sucks balls and is poorly designed. This mod will help alot.

Hey all...You all know a lot more about this than I ever could but I think those headers show a 4 into 1 where the main exhaust is a 3" pipe instead of our 2.25". Wouldn't that in itself need a completely different exhaust with at least a 3" diameter tubing? I would guess that gains could be made with this increase in diameter alone, correct? So maybe it's not the headers that makes this an improvement but the 3" tubing and the need for the exhast upgrade?Just wonderin...Dave

Does anyone know where I can get a stock header and throttle body for a base 2004 Vibe? I am planning to build a header and play around with a larger throttle body, along with a few other tricks before I move up to a turbo. I’d like to get the stock pieces so that I could develop these parts and build them without having the car off the road. I’d also be interested in finding a Vibe GT intake assembly to play around with. Please let me know if anyone has these pieces or knows where I could get them. Thanks.Harryhwojo@juno.com

Harry, Try looking here for a used throttle body and exhaust manifold. http://www.car-part.com/index.htm Lots of salvage yards all over the U.S. and Canada.
