Here I go torqing all the way to 258 ft-lbs. I think I'm doing a great job at this point.... do you notice anything missing?
I removed the dust sheild eariler and forgot to put it back first.
Later I figured out that the dust sheild didnt need to be removed anyway..
I took this hub off again and redid it with another brand new spindle nut to put the dust sheild back on. That new spindle nut cost me $30 and an emergency run in the vibe to the nearest parts store (happened to be Napa) who had one. I had to get it done that day. She needed the car.
Its much cheaper to order those on amazon. One of parts guys at Napa did raise an eyebrow when I explained I needed the new spindle nut because I forgot to put the dust sheild on. I'm not sure he was aware that this baby goes to 258 ft-lbs. Nice guys there.
Oh well. It was 90° out and I was getting a little loopy. Mistakes happen. Sometimes you need a snickers.

Ahh the dust sheild. I should have left that on. I had this all figured out when I did the other side. It rained a little bit.

I little blast of electric cleaner spray to clean the abs connectors and shes all done. Drives great.
Oh btw. The 2014 ford edge has about 135k miles on it.
Its an AWD SEL model with the 3.5l V6. Its a really nice engine. Its has plenty of oomph but a bit of a gas hog. It has a 19 gallon fuel tank and runs on 87 octane.
Sometimes we drive the ford edge to go on vacation so I wanted the hubs to be all good before an extended drive. The old hubs were noisy. We are driving pretty far. 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours driving.
As fun as showing these diy repairs is, I'm gonna have to remove a lot of this. I don't want information affectimg our imsuramce polices. So. feeling cute. Will delete later.
I love how on genvibe I can come back and edit these as many times as I want.. I'm gonna delete a bunch of these posts later. Though, I'm not least bit worried about the quality of my work on the ford edge. Infact I'm glad to know it was done right.
Its rather it may not be wise from an insurance standpoint to post this information. I feel its unlikely that our policy or a potential future claim could be affected by this stuff here.. still, I feel uncertain about it and posting this info seems like an unnecessary thing to mess around with.
Much of the things about my vibe can remain.. but this stuff about the ford edge will have to be deleted later. I'll still show some of my vibe repairs here
