The first gen GT had a VVTL-i engine, which is like Honda's VTEC technology.

The second gen GT uses a Camry motor, which makes more torque across the entire rev-range, and more HP from 1000-rpm to when Lift kicks in, but does produce less overall HP.

So what's the 2nd gen gt's engine name.. And I know that there is probably already a hole forum on this but any cheap quick easy mods to get some extra hp on it?

The 2nd gen GT uses the 2AZ-FE.

The 1st gen uses the 2ZZ-GE.

The 2 in each means 2nd generation of that engine. The AZ/ZZ refers tot he engine family. The "F" means narrow-angle valves (for fuel efficiency) while the G means wide-angle valves (for performance). E just means electronic fuel injection.

...gen1 was quicker, though you had to keep the revs up to eleventeen thousand RPM's to get anything out of it. And ZOMG, PREMIUM FUEL!

It was quite dramatic when lift kicked in, though personally I'd appreciate more usable torque available elsewhere.

Not too many 2009-2010 Vibe GT owners here doing much performance-wise beyond the K&N Typhoon intake. This member had quite a bit done to his engine, but he no longer owns it and hasn't posted in over a year.
