What I do is hit the Browse button, which pops up a file selection window. I use that to select the file to upload. Can be any kind of file, as long as it's smaller than 3 MB.
it is a jpg and it is only 1mb. It just doesn't take it for some reason.

You have to have the picture on the Internet somewhere, not just your hard drive. Add the picture as an attachment to a post and then you can display it.
quote:it is a jpg and it is only 1mb.The forum software says "The file cannot be larger than 3000000 bytes" or 3mb, but I'm wondering if the text is wrong and it should be 300k. Try opening it up in PaintShop or whatever graphic software you use and reduce the image quality, then save it again. A 1mb picture is way too large for someone with a dial-up connection. This pic is only 36k, and it's still relatively sharp.

Before Genvibe had the "file attachment" feature, I had to post pics on my personal web space with my internet provider, then pull them from there, but I just do the "file attachment" deal now.
Don't mind me, I'm just trying it out myself to see if it works or not.

quote:You typed it like this:[img]http://forums.genvibe.com/antbase2.jpg[/img]It should be:[img]http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/2148/antbase2.jpg[/img]Scott, I was going to ask you how you got the img and url to show up without being interpreted, but when I quoted your post I see you put bold/end bold tags in the img brackets, so they don't show up but keep the img tag from being interpreted literally. Pretty crafty
Does your ISP allow you to have any webspace? You need to setup your webspace first, then you must upload the image file to your webspace using an FTP program, like Bulletproof. Then you need to link the image file from your webspace to this web board. For example, if you were with Rogers ISP and your username was Robdog and the filename was 'robdog.jpg' you would need to type between the [IMG] [IMG] the following.http://members.rogers.com/Robdog/robdog.jpg .Then the picture would show up on the board.
