Throttle issue from standstill and on freeway.

Post by lordflashhart05 »

Hi guys and gals. I have an 05 Vibe GT and have a slight issue. I have intermittent power issues when taken off from a standstill and also when trying to accelerate on the freeway from about 3000prm. the odd thing about the freeway issue is when I put the pedal to WOT the vehicle takes off without a problem. A tech friend of mine mentioned the MAP sensor change after checking the car out with tech2 so I've changed that out. The issue from stand still is pretty much the same as at 3 except absolutely nothing until you really hit the throttle. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Could be normal, since you have Drive By Wire. Some owners of other cars with the system have noticed hesitation when starting up from a stop.

This hesitation is VERY severe. It's been fine for 4 years. Since the CEL came on it's a different car.

The codes reference a lean condition and O2 sensors. I'd suggest, in order:

1) Check for vacuum leaks on the intake manifold.
2) MAF sensor. Make sure it's bolted/tightened and connected properly... and clean.
3) (@mr48) PCM/ECU recall, have you done it yet?
4) Throttle body, remove it and clean it.
5) O2 sensors, replace them.
6) Spark plugs. How many miles are on them?
7) Fuel pump, replace it. A bad fuel pump can cause some really interesting issues.

Not likely to be this as I never had a problem from standstill, but my old Fiero 2.5 iron Duke motor would drop power and just kind of flutter and not accelerate when given a nice mid to 3/4 throttle. But at WOT she took off fine. Used Car Dealer I bought it from replaced plugs and more but 3 weeks later, same trouble.
During a recall on the car the GM Dealer diagnosed it as "scored pistons."
The recall was to add more oil to crankcase w/dipstick. (and swap the radiator cap). Just a possibility it could be that; as there is the bulletin to change out the dipstick to add more oil to the Vibe.
I know, more info than needed. Oh well. I don't post much :)
