Help Wiring an Alarm and Power Locks

Post by Laserbeak43 »

Hi,I'm trying to hook an alarm up along with 4 actuators and two relays connected together like the ones shown on this webpage's schematic.http://www.miata.net/garage/pwrlock.htm#Wiring RelaysI don't have any switches for my door panels yet, so everything will be manual unless i'm using the remotes, until i can buy the switches. all 4 actuators are identical, so i've run the wiring under the panels on the side but when i popped open the kick panel and removed the cover for the steering wheel and look at the wiring harnesses, I wonder what's next.I guess I'm supposed to be tapping each wire?also, aside from the wiring, the alarm brain also comes with a relay, but no instruction on where and how to use it.the manual's wiring diagrams start on page 13 if you're interested:http://www.caralarm.com/manual...s.pdf1) it looks like i have a 3 pin connector that has +12 volts on it and the green and blue -lock and -unlock, this looks like it's what i'd be using if i had switches, but also the 9 pin connector has 2 +/- door inputs, what are these inputs for? How would i connect my locks to use only the remotes?2) the 4 pin connector next to these has a +12V connection as well. do i connect both?3) if i were to tap the wires for the already installed horn and light, would i need to put a relay between that tap? or is one already provided?4) Bonus: How do I make the front door one pulse and the rest of the doors 2 pulses? again, this manual says NOTHING about how to connect things(and i guess they'd be smart not to?)I've got a million and one more questions but i'd be greatful if you could answer these. Thanks Laser

well this is what i have so far:soz I ripped the door pannel off and i find this metal plate... OH!! THIS IS WHERE OEM FORGOT TO PUT MY ACTUATOR!!! I forgive them. So I just popped everything off, Here's the area around the ignitionWe pop panels...playaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Ok, It's a leafy fall and i'm not cleaning a thing till this gets done,Ok?There's the seatbelt and the passage to the back door, with the actuator wiring running through:AnotherThis was a genuine PITA, It's a lot easier to just pop it out,run the wire through it and re-attach instead of trying to run itthrough while it's assembled!!Sorry about the size and quality of the cell phone pics.I've got more pics of the harnesses under the steering wheel and the kick panel, I'll upload once i've done some tapping.

Looks like everything's semi-working. I can lock the 2 doors that i've wired up. and the alarm goes nuts, the remotes are paired up, etc, but i can't unlock and i need to to tame the alarm and finish wiring up to the ignition, dome light, and parking lights etc.I'll do this in the morning when the sun comes back out.XD

What is causing the alarm to go off when you arm the car? How are the lock and unlock wires hooked up?
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style

How are the lock and unlock wires hooked up?well it seems that the alarm just goes off as soon as the battery is hooked up, so that's no big deal. I have the lock and unlock of the actuator connected the way this diagram has it, at least i think so, i haven't really troubleshot much yet. now, I'm having other problems, I can't seem to get the alarm into program mode.I'm thinking it's because I haven't connected something? Of all of the possibleconnections, I've connected the siren, -lock -unlock, +12V(not from the switch), Ground, and the Accessory ignition wire which was actually two black and white wires(?) connected to one pin. things that haven't been connected aredome lighthorn outAuXAux 2Starter Killtrigger in+ door in- door inand 12+v for the switches(since i'm only using the remote for the actuators, i shouldn't need this)

hmm i don't think those are the ignition wires, or the fact that i have both of them tapped toether does something to mess with the ignition circuitry. I just had to use the 12v constant to simulate ignition on and off to program the remotes and alarm.
