I told her to let me know when she wants to get together so I can install it for her or at least help her out with it. I know she's more than capable of installing it on her own.I will be anxiously awaiting your post and pictures of the Neptune !

Fuelly gives you the cool little banner to use as a forum signature, so I figured what the heck. That is pretty darn good considering yours is a manual and mine's an automatic. I changed the oil on both Vibes today and this week I am going to clean the MAF sensors to see if that does anything to boost our gas mileage even a little. I can't wait to see pictures from Corey. I saw that he registered as a user last night .

Yeah I'm going to try to find time to get down there and pick up the light this week- I've been kind of busy lately because all of our free time has been spent helping our friends paint/repair/move into their new house.I'm so behind on car projects... haven't done the spring Rain-X, haven't done the spring detail, haven't cleaned the seat covers, haven't installed the horns, haven't even washed the thing (but now I can't wash it until it gets fixed, I'll post pics in another thread of the sadness...)I've gt a log of all of my fill-ups, I should do a Fuelly thing too. Actually, today I need to get gas, and I'm going to spend this entire tank driving in "eco-mode" (not letting the RPM go above 2500, slow acceleration from a stop, lots of coasting with my foot off the gas when possible, etc.) to see how it affects my mpgs. I've been driving like that for the past week to get used to it, and it's not that bad (I only had to break that once to pass a $%!@#% on I-90 who kept trying to match my speed when I needed to get over and exit).

It's not like the brake light's going anywhere . It's all wrapped up in the box in my room. I'm kind of behind too, at least on the spring detailing because our outside faucet started leaking when it was still cold out and we just had it fixed a couple weeks ago. I haven't been able to wash/detail the Vibes yet though because of all this damn rain we keep getting. I did oil changes on both the Vibes today and I cleaned the MAF/IAT sensors so we'll see if that effects our mileage at all. They do seem to idle a little smoother, although I don't know if they really are or if it's just my imagination . I need to start driving like that as well, not that I am flooring it or anything, but I know I could improve at least a little.

No, actually the piece I was looking for is the piece around the shift indicator. I got the supposed correct part number from GM Parts Direct, so I went ahead and ordered it earlier this week. Now I am just waiting for it to arrive and hoping it is indeed what I was looking for.I found a really good deal on the GM chrome interior trim package and couldn't pass it up. I only wanted the shift knob overlay, as the shift indicator overlay would be way too much chrome, so I ordered the package for the 4-speed auto because it was so cheap .

Out of interest regarding your Vibe floor mat and cargo mat. I noticed you were getting rid of them in another post and mentioned they were the revised mats due to the accelerator pedal issue. What is the difference between those two mats? I just got a set of used ones off eBay(you were not kidding when you said they are hard to find) and wanted to know how to tell them apart. Granted I have a manual trans so the pedal issue is not as major as with an auto trans(I can push the clutch pedal down) I got stiffed by Carmax on the OEM mats and needed a set for my car.How is the Cargo mat fit? I was looking at one but decided I wanted the iPod adapter more then the mat at this juncture Thanks

So, has someone discovered WHICH iPod adapter is the right one for our radios? I was going to get one earlier this year, but after searching thru the forums, it seemed that no-one was sure whether we should have the GM adapter or the Toyota adapter. I didn't feel like spending $$$ and starting the installation, to find out it didn't work.

I just got a USA Spec PA20GM from Crutchfield yesterdayhttp://www.crutchfield.com/p_5...+SpecIt can be had for a cheaper price on eBay/Amazon but I opted for Crutchfield since I have bought from them before and liked them(Plus shipping was 1 day and free to MD customers)It plugs into the XM radio (it has 3 connectors on the harness(one plugs into the XM unit, the other plugs into the connector from the radio to the XM and the 3rd to the device) it allows you to have a iPod controlled by the radio without losing the XM radio. When the device is plugged in Channel 255 shows up and you add it to the preset.I like it so far but I just got it and my standards might be different then yours. I wanted to control and charge the iPod and not have a zillion cables in my console.I really liked the PXAMG from iSimple but they don't make one yet for our cars.It is a bit labor intense as you have to remove panels from the car to run it to the front but nothing too hard just time consuming

Quote, originally posted by journeyforce »That looks nice. How much of a pain in the rear is removing that part of the dash? Thanks ! It's actually ridiculously easy! First, turn the shift knob counter clockwise to remove it. Next, use a small flathead screwdriver to pop the piece out of place (there's a little indent at the top left corner of the piece near the 115v button). Pull the piece up and off and install the new piece. I did forget to put the two clips that were on the black piece on the silver piece, so I had to take it back off today and put the clips on there, but installation literally took less than a minute. A very easy mod that makes a big difference in the look of the interior.Quote, originally posted by enfield577 »That really makes a big difference! Really looks great! Thanks Geoff ! I am very happy with how much of a difference it brought to the interior. Well worth the $45.00 for sure.

JRIt just snowed about 4 inches in a couple hours here ... with wind and thunder to go along with it. But the air and ground temp was actually above freezing, so the roads were not REALLY slick or anything. But driving home was a nightmare, because ... you guessed it ... all those ****** with their rear-wheel-drive big old SUVs and and pickup trucks, who couldn't get up a little bitty hill to exit the Army post. I had to bite my tongue to keep from telling them to get off the road, and let those of us who could drive, proceed. Of course, my Vibe had absolutely NO trouble with that snow or the little hills. That is one thing I really don't like about being stationed with the military in Germany ... so many military people refuse to conform to the European norm for vehicles, and they ship huge SUVs and trucks over here, which cause problems like today, not to mention in parking lots, which are made for German cars, not American land battleships.OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. And sorry to rant in your garage, Carrie!

Quote, originally posted by csxt8058 »Looks good Still no snow eh? Nothing here either, and it's supposed to get warm again this weekend. Thanks! Nope, no snow yet. We've had a couple "dustings" but nothing more than maybe an inch. I think I am the reason we haven't had any snow around here. The past two winters, I've put our steelies on right before we get our first major snowstorm (usually about December 1st). This year I decided to put them on Thanksgiving weekend because I had time and the weather was nice. It's funny to think that we could still be driving around with our 18s on now, but I know the minute I'd put them back on, we'd get dumped on . It was about 50 today and it's supposed to stay above average through the weekend. I don't mind snow, but I'm certainly not going to complain about this unusual weather we're having.Quote, originally posted by lowincash »super clean! looking good =]Thanks !Quote, originally posted by enfield577 »It just snowed about 4 inches in a couple hours here ... with wind and thunder to go along with it. Nice looking BASE vibe there! I'm so glad we don't have to worry about snow and ice down here, except maybe every few years or so when we have a prolonged freeze for a few days. I've never driven in real snow before, but I do sympathise with you guys when it ices over down here. The idiots down here do not know how to drive in it. I can drive my RWD V8 Mustang in icy weather way better than most of the people down here. I can actually make it up the long freeway overpasses, albeit at an angle sometimes, but I do make it!

As KITT said, it's really not that bad. As long as you take your time and you're careful, you'll be fine. I love watching the news the next morning after we've gotten snow and/or ice and seeing all the reports of people spinning out on on/off ramps because they were going to fast. It's like people in Chicagoland forget how to drive in snow and/or ice every year .

If I ever end up getting snow tires on steelies I may try to get a set of those hubcaps to see how they look on a 1st gen. They look better than plain old ghetto steelies on mine and that's all I really care about . The silver "pops" alot more on my mom's since it's darker. The silver on mine just blends in .Unfortunately they won't fit a 1st gen because of the bolt pattern difference .

It was 78 earlier today.I was curious to see if anyone would comment on the temperature . It has been 80+ here in Chicagoland since last week. We have broken the record like 8 days in a row now. Not bad at all for March ! The funny thing is that my mom's Vibe turned over 30,000 miles a couple hours after mine did and her temperature gauge said 72 because a storm had gone through and "dropped" the temperature . That's still a good 25+ degrees above the average high!
