Sc specs and price.

Post by goodvibe »

Here's a link to another forum with good info on the SC. http://www.matrixvibe.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3567 Feel free to delete if there's a sponsor issue. + 20lb torque + 36hp Retail's probably $2995 before labor. The lower price here may help you negotiate with your dealer.

Lower HP and torque than first hinted at. Makes me wonder if they've lowered the specs in reality to make the unit more reliable, or lowered the specs on paper only, to make the unit seem less dangerous and as such less of a cost to insure.Time will tell. First person to get on, please get it dyno'd. Before and after, too. Then post the specs here.KSNeptune

Granted but specs and price should be the same. It'a not for me. Just good to know what's up.

Peak horsepower is 166 HP supercharged @ 6800 RPM vs. 130 HP @ 6000 RPM.125-tq + 35% = 168.75130-hp + 35% = 175.50Those numbers not match up to me.145-tq - 125-tq = 20-tq increase20-tq / 125-tq = 16% not 35% That's less than half! 166-hp - 130-hp = 36-hp increase36-hp / 130-hp = 27% not 35% Someone at TRD needs a math class.Also, what's with the 6800-rpm rating?! Does that mean the 1ZZ will get an additional 400-rpm (or more) range of power?How much do GT's go for again?Not a happy camper. Here's to hoping those number are underrated so not to steal sales away from the GT/XRS.

Here's to hoping those number are underrated so not to steal sales away from the GT/XRS.They have to be inaccurate IMO. Boost is boost. Does 1 pound of boost only increase hp by 4.8? I doubt it. I called TRD and went over the numbers and he agreed that they don't seem right. I'm guessing they're either quoting wheel hp numbers or they made an error. If there is not an error, it's misleading advertising. He did say it takes 2 seconds of the 0-60 mph time. If that's correct, it's pretty amazing to knock off 2 seconds with such a modest increase in torque and hp.

I should have seen this coming. The SC for the Sunfire/Cavi boosts them up to about 190-hp according to the specs on the GM/Goodwrench site. I think the Sunfire 2.4 puts down about 150-hp before the SC which is a 40-hp or 26.666% increase in power.http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/gmgoodwrenc ... 498287Damn, that sux. If those #'s hold true, I think I will move to a turbo or the GT. However, I do like my warranty. The biggest problem with the SC at those numbers is the cost.2004 Base Vibe $17,045 + SC $3000 + Install $500 =$20,545 166-hp/145-tq2004 GT Vibe $19,995 180-hp/130-tqI will not pay more for less. Simply put if the does not beat the GT, I will not buy it. At this point GM has my money for my Vibe. But I'll be damned if they will get more.

Just an update. TRD is saying the 35% increase is inthe lower rpms. If that's the case, it must be pretty fast off the line.

Just because the peaks aren't 35% higher doesn't mean there isn't a 35% increase in other areas on the HP and TQ graph. I'd like to see graphs of the HP and TQ before and after the S/C install. If their claim of a 2 second decrease in 0-60 is correct that would equal at least a 2 second decrease in the ET. That would put me in the mid to high 14 second range in the quarter. That I like.

Thats asking a lot but even 1 sec would feel great and I bet it will still be a kick to drive. They might be consentrating on the low rpm to give the most performance without stressing the trannys with high peak power. The numbers also seem low to me even without an intercooler. Maybe the advance is knocked back more with the hotter expanded air. Beats me.

Those are TRDs added HP numbers compared to stock ay the crank. They may be conservative but I'm sure they're all at the crank.

What will be will be. I for one still think the SC vibe will have about 180 hp as long as the psi is the same. Then again, the ol' GM 3800 v6 was 200hp and only 240hp with the SC in the riviera or bonneville. They were busting cranks at 270hp, so they had to bring it down.

There''s a lot of SC talk over at matrixowners, and hopefully one of the first to get the SC will get a before and after dyno, so that there will be actual independent data on the performance gains

i checked out larrys link it states 15.9 et for the sc and 16.5 for the gt 17.1 stock. personally i like those numbers. it beats a gt here and i know that many of you have got better times than these. but after runing at the track on two different occassions in 80 plus weather i thought my 17.35 best was to pathetic to post but now i feel better.and wont be dissapointed that my sc wont put me in the 14's.(supercharger alone that is!!!)

does anyone know if the pontiac version will be cheaper than the TRD? Months ago, TRD was saying 3400 or so, and pontiac was saying "well under 3000 installed" ...so now I have seen TRD offered as low as 2600, does that mean the pontiac SC will be lower? any one know?
