Reading/Map Light

Post by Gorjes »

I have a 2003 GT. The Reading light up by the moonroof controls burnt out? I cant find anything in the manual about it, except how to turn it on/off. Any idea how to get to it or what bulb it takes? Thanks in advance

it's a #1895 bulbTo get to it, you have to remove the one screw you can see on the cover, then pry/pull the whole cover off. Don't try to take off just the clear plasticon mine, I rarely use it and sometimes it won't come on, but if I hit the switch on and off enough times, it starts to work. Might worth trying a hundred cycles on the switch to see if that cleans it up before buying a replacement bulb

I have searched high & low for this particular bulb. Local auto parts stores dont carry it. I have tried ebay but cannot find a correct match. The wattage always seems to be off. Any suggestions?

Go for an LED one. I went full-LED on my interior lights and it lights up the night. Just plug and play. Although the dummy plug I had to go into the spot where the bulb went did have the polarity wrong, so I had to switch the wires, but that might be seller-specific. They're all over ebay. I didn't get bulb-specific ones, they just sent me the LEDs and dummy bulbs.

Thanks for the advice. How much did you pay for the map light?
