Plasti Dip Painting

Post by milocas »

Wow guys, this stuff works like a charm! I saw a member on another forum that i'm currently in and thought id give it a shot. Came out great! So far, I've painted the "Vibe" on each side black and came out awesome! Steps for doing this is easy! All you gotta do is cover the area you paints, you dont have to be perfect. (Leave alittle space to peel the paint!)Next you just spray the plastidip to the area you wanted, do 3 coats! one light one, and two heavy ones. After the three coats, Grab a toothpick and go around the tape to spread it apart.Once you've done that, Basically remove the tape or whatever you used. After you've done that, Let it dry for 30mins to and hour. Once dried, Grab one corner and begin to peel away.Make sure you got all the paint off, and to get into the tight areas with a toothpick. Step back, and enjoy a cheap/Temporary mod!

Looks good. You'll have to keep us updated as to how it holds up.

I buy mine at Lowe's And this is what I did my spoiler and my rear bumper with. Matches perfectly and has held up just fine for about 5 months now

I will let you know if you haven't found ou yourself. There are some videos on YouTube that make it sound like a good deal if done properly.

No chips, nada. id say, about 5 months with the paint still on the rims, till last week, id say its some wicked sh*t. wish it was permanent thou. lol. but the paint on the emblems is still holding up strong!

i used 4 cans for the rims, But i've noticed a better result when the rims were somewhat warm, if the rims are cold, paint will bubble where you dont want it too, If its warm, itll dry once its on in 5mins. Do light coats thou, after you have about 3 coats, do one last heavy coat to get any spots missed.

Awesome, I'm excited to get it done. Warm rims won't be a problem this time of year here lol, good advice.

He's absolutely right about the last heavy coat. Do it as heavy as you can without it running. Before it dries it will have a weird texture, but once it dries up it takes on the texture of whatever you sprayed it on.It's pretty neat

Thanks for that tidbit about the texture, I might have freaked out! I am used to spraying clearcoat which you do not want ANY texture on or you goofed up.
