I am new to the genvibe board and just purchased a 2004 Vibe 1.8 liter with automatic. It is neptune blue ( solid exterior) , tunes and moon package, abs, power package and 17 inch aluminum wheels. The vehicle has 95,000 miles so I am starting to sort it out over the next month or so with trying to get the front and rear alignment squared away next week. I had the local tire dealer check the alignment after installing 4 new tires and the alignment figures were way off and they said the alignment wasn't adjustable. From reading the forum and talking with another alignment shop in the area, it sounds like I need to get front camber bolts in the front and rear alignment shims to get the alignment in check.The other item is gas mileage. The first tank so far was 25 MPG which was a bit less than I was expecting after moving from a 1997 Camry that got 26 - 29 MPG very consistently. I probably need to install new plugs, a new air filter and clean the MAF and see if that improves things. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Looking forward to using this forum and driving the Vibe.

I had an '03 1.8L AT, and now an '09 1.8L AT. My driving miles tend to be somewhat heavily slanted towards city as opposed to highway. 25 mpg is typical. On trips with mostly highway driving I usually get 32-33 mpg at legal freeway speeds +5. I leased a '94 Camry 2004-2007. I don't exactly remember the mpg as gas was a lot cheaper then but I suspect it was also about 25 mpg for my driving mix.

Welcome to GenVibe!Keep the RPM's below 3000 for the best gas mileage. It gets 'thirsty' when you wind it out at every stoplight and entrance ramp!Remember that winter warmups and idling are at zero mpg. Tire pressure drops about 1 lb for every 10 degrees drop in temperature. My real-world average for about 9500 miles of mixed driving (75% small town, 25% interstate) last year was 27.5mpg. Highest ever was 41 mpg when drafting a high-profile vehicle for 300 miles. Lowest has been about 18 mpg with lots of idling and cold-weather warmups in winter.
My 2003 Vibe Base Auto 2-tone Salsa "SalsaWagon" was built in May 2002. I acquired it in Feb 2004/Traded it in on a 2016 Honda HR-V in Feb 2018.
