I saw in this forum a discussion on a plug that I think is in the block that is removed to allow more sludgy oil to drain. Doing this, I read, improves the performance.I cant find that thread. There was even a diagram to show where the plug is.Can someone point me to this? Thanks
Quote, originally posted by DoubleBaril »im guessing this has to be done at the time of an oil change? Not necessarily. Oil is only flowing through this while the pump is running. I'd question whether, for the normal owner, any "performance increase" would be noticed by cleaning the valve and filter. If you've been lax on maintenance, possibly. Mostly, this valve becomes suspect in cases of the engine "falling on its face" in the RPM ranges where the valve timing is varied (the first of which is right around 3,000 IIRC).
