09 Vibe AWD Hatch wont lock

Post by Airmack »

If I lock the doors from inside the car or using the remote lock on the key, the hatch does not lock. I can open it from the outside every time. Is it a switch or some thing I am missing or do I need to take it in?

Can you lock it physically with the key?If it's only using the power locks function (switch or remote) then it could be the actuator inside the hatch, or perhaps a bad connection. Since it's an 09, I'd say take it back to a dealer and get it fixed under warranty, except its always such a hassle to lose the time to have to go back to the dealer, so hopefully someone else will post up a quick and easy fix.

But I pulled out the PDF from the GM website & it says (Lock): Press to lock all of thedoors and liftgate.

at least you knkow that part of the mechanism isn't siezed up, and you have a way to lock it until the electric method is restored.Does the switch or remote unlock the door? If so, the wires to it are probably ok. If you press the lock button, can you hear (or feel) anything happening in the hatch?

Maybe you got a Monday built Vibe that has power door locks but a hatch door with only a manual lock. Could happen, I've seen bigger goofs than that.
