I have a 06 base and upon switching to full synthetic and installing a K&N air filter, I notice it runs a lot smoother. I've been using strictly 87 but I'd bet 89 would make a positive difference.

87, higher octane will get you nothing, unless you own a 2zz.

I no of know E85 stations near me. But I do know that with 108,000 miles now, it's been pure 87 and good 'ol dino juice oil changes.

Both mine and my mom's '09 GTs get nothing but 89. It's the lowest octane at the Citgo station we go to, but it's mid grade everywhere else so it's a good deal.

87 octane unless the petrol station has 89 octane for the same price. This goes for the 1.8L in the 04 and 08; also for both 09s that have the 2.4L (same engine as the Vibe GTs)

I disagree with the mileage. When I have used E85 the mileage decreased greatly. I don't think it is worth it. It was just a Temp solution for people that were complaining that gas prices were too high. There is no way that it should be continued to be produced.... I can think of much more energy efficient solutions besides e85

yes the oct is higher. yes you use 30% more, but it is cheaper per gallon than 91 so it comes out about the same cost. Due to running boost the 91 is not good for my car so i have to add booster.

Regular engines waste the octane from E85, just like running supreme.http://www.raceone85.com/ (there are hunderds of sites like this)

89 because it's cheaper around here than 87.
