2009 2.4L base iPod question

Post by Kincaid »

Anyone have this issue with their 2009/10 Vibe?Mine has the Aux jack - so I got the patch cord that has the jack on one end and the pin connector on the other. It should charge the iPod when in use, I believe.Anyway, I plug it in and can select the first song. It plays and then stops when the song is over. Nothing more happens. No matter what I push on the iPod the song will only replay. I can't select different songs, run the shuffle feature or skip to the next song on the shuffle.Anyone know what is up with this? I have a 30gb iPod video, if it matters.

I am not sure if Toyota's Ipod Connector will work with the Vibe's HU and XM.

So the cable you are using to connect your iPod to your Vibe has at one end the pin connector which plugs into the bottom of iPod and the other end has a 1/8th inch ( also called 3.5 mm ) stereo male headphone which plugs into the AUX port on the Vibe's head unit? I have never seen his setup. But the cable sounds interesting. If your iPod is like mine - the AUX from the Vibe plugs into the 1/8th inch headphone port on the iPod. IF this is the case, the function of the AUX is to amplify the incoming sound and should not be affecting the controllability of your iPod. BTW - your sound level on your iPod is independent of your head unit. I set my iPod to about 4/5th total volume to avoid distortion... So you would need a cable which has male 1/8th inch stereo headphone jacks on both ends.Try creating a playlist in iTunes, upload it to your iPod and try playing the playlist once connected to your Vibe.I would suspect the settings within you iPod are not set to continue to the next track or rather may be set to replay. Or you only have one track from an album. Or the cable may be affecting your ability to continue to another track and locking you out of the controls. OR the HOLD slider on the top of the iPod may have been moved intot he hold position.... Or something else. Try your Ipod with just ear buds and let me know what happens. IF that works properly, I suspect the cable. As grizzly meantioned, the AUX will not charge your iPod. Yea, I saw the Toyota Adapter as well. Not sure IF the head units are the same / compatible from Pontiac vs. Toyota. From the pictures I have seen of the Matrix, they look different. Anyone know for sure?I have a factory iPod connection in another car and the sound is much better than the AUX connection, plus it DOES charge the iPod and I can control the iPod from the factory head unit.On another note, I found this -- http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/smartcharge/and this -- http://www.griffintechnology.c...exauxlooks promsing.

I bought it to use with an iPod dock that had a broken pin connector and to use in my new Vibe! Now that we've talked more about it, I think I did know it would not charge it - because I didn't get it until I had the Vibe with the Aux port or I could have used it on the dock. Anyway, I had a Griffin iTrip I used w/good results in my Civic, but this promised a better connection with better sound. The minor hiss I got from the iTrip was eliminated.Quote »So you would need a cable which has male 1/8th inch stereo headphone jacks on both ends.I have one of these that came w/the iPod dock (bought it used for $20 - new it was over $100). I'll give that a try.Quote »Or the cable may be affecting your ability to continue to another track and locking you out of the controls.I'm sure you're right, I just don't know why.Quote »On another note, I found this -- http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/smartcharge/and this -- http://www.griffintechnology.c...exauxlooks promsing. Those are cool - I like the flex one as a nice holder. May end up getting that. Thanks! Finally, just a rant but I really pisses me off that these auto makers charge a ridiculous amount of money for those iPod adapters! Probably costs them about a buck fifty in parts.

About the time I started this thread my wife "organized" the den and I couldn't find three of the families four iPods. So, I could not test any of the suggestions made. I finally dug thru the den and found two of the missing iPods, one of which was mine.I plugged it in with the headphone to aux jack and the same thing happened. I then checked the settings and found it was set to only play one song. So, Occam's razor and all, I got the issue fixed. I also found out that my pin connector to aux jack cord also works! Supposedly, it should provide a cleaner sound, says the maker.Anyway, now that my XM radio is kaput I am back to the iPod and could not be happier. My old Griffin iTrip worked fine but had some background hiss and the volume was screwy - some songs quieter and some louder but could never get loud enough for me. Now I am putting the monsoon system thru it's paces.I may still get one of the above adapters to that it will charge and will be held in a nice tidy package, rather than putting the iPod into my empty cupholder and having a white cord running up to the aux jack.

I found a kit on Crutchfield.com that says to be compatable with the 09 vibe stock radio. It's called the "USA Spec GM iPod® Interface". It's spend at $159, but I am going to give it a shot and will update soon. rvidolof@hotmail.com

Back when my husband had an iPod, I got him something similar to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...99840It was a combination charger and mount, with an aux cable to plug it in to the aux input.

Did it give you full control of the iPod functions from the steering wheel controls? That's all I'm looking for.
