Yeah I do not get it either! So dumb! Why? Why? I can't believe it is a part issue, more like a software issue or something. Someone needs to figure out how to defeat it!

Or maybe just planned obselence, taking a page from the GM playbook. They're punishing those who want to keep their cars a long time. If you want a working odometer, you have to shell out hundreds of dollars to a dealer every 299,999 miles. A money making racket. All this because they didn't put an '8' in the far left number on the LCD. Instead, just the segments that are required to make the numbvers 1 and 2.Could be worse, GM didn't even forsee the Oldsmobile I once had reaching 199,999.9 mi/km. After 200,000 km it just read 'Error.'

The same thing happened to my '04 Corolla. I called the dealership where I bought it, and they said they have to replace the whole cluster. They cover the cost of the cluster, and I have to pay for the 1 hour of labour to put it in.
