The wiring diagram referred to in the forums for Stock Moon & Tunes system DOES NOT show the woofer wire connection, just the tweeters, and front and rear door speackers. Is the woofer wiring run through the regular rear speakers wires?I ask because Crutchfield says I need a PAC OEM-2 (Universal Factory Sound System Interface) to accomodate installation of my Pioneer Head Unit. Is this necesary or can the woofer be activated with the stock wiring through the stock M&T 200 Watt outboard amp? Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me here.FORREST

THANKS FOR THE REPLY, DIANE. WHAT HAPPENS IF i DON'T USE THE OEM 2? I HAD A 04 VIBE WITH M&T AND DID NOT USE IT AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE, YET CRUTCHFIELD SAYS ON MY 06 IT COULD OVERLOAD AND PERHAPS DAMAGE THE AMP. TRUE?

OW my eyes hurt.. all caps = bad!But to answer your question, can you run without the PAC OEM-2? yes, as long as you're ok with some distortion and have no intention to try and shake the wheels off the car.I run a JVC KD-AVX44 right into the M&T amp, and it's ok, but I don't listen very loud, and I know if I cranked it up too high I'd start destroying components, but I'm old and not interested in my windows thumping with the music

When I first installed an aftermarket HU, I didn't use one of those thingies - it worked fine but I had excessive white noise at lower or no volume. It was very loud though! I got that cheap Scosche line level converter thingamajig to attenuate the signal coming from my new HU and that really cleaned things up.

If your HU has preamp outputs, couldn't you wire those directly to the monsoon amp, without having to use the Scosche converter? Wouldn't the sound be better doing things this way?

Thanks for all the input regarding the OEM wiring unit to accommodate the new HU. It appears the best sound will come from adding this "adapter" into the mix so will procede with getting one. Thanks Much!FORREST(sorry about the CAPS wacking your eyes, Diane)
