Just got a Vibe, looking into security systems.. question about (a lack of) power locks

Post by GrafEisen »

So, yeah.. got my first car last night, a priced-to-sell 2007 Tacoma Blue Pontiac Vibe. My dream car :D Besides a few specks of missing paint that I was fully expecting after doing my research over the past year or so, it's an amazing car so far. It lacks power windows, power locks, and any sort of remote entry system/alarm. I'm interested in getting an alarm system for it, and was curious about the wiring that is already in place. My question is this: If I get an alarm that also has lock/unlock buttons on the remote, is the wiring in place to convert the locks to power locks fairly easily, even if they're only able to be electronically controlled by the remote? If the answer to that is yes, can anyone recommend a fairly low priced system that'd accomplish both the power locks and alarm purposes? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance The short answer is NO the wiring is not present. The is a thread here somplace where someone did make the conversion themselves but it was a lot of work and required adonor car that had the wiring.BTW: Welcome to the Vibedom!! Post Pics ASAP or the mob will light the torches and sharpen pitch forks.

Had a feeling the wiring wasn't there, couldn't hurt to hope, though! Oh well, no power locks/windows is a small price to pay for an otherwise great deal I'll be taking pics tomorrow morning, was going to anyways just in case I get into an accident at some point I can have proof that it wasn't pre-existing damage. I'll be sure to post them once I do

This is the place where shopping around will really help... it's not that difficult to add power locks.. usually a kit that can be added on to any alarm.. cost, I don't know... I would start going around looking at prices.. tell them what you want and let them do their thing..
