Tweeter mounting

Post by ~MRVIBE2006~ »

I have an 2006 Vibe with the M & T set up with the tweeters in the corner in front of the door window. This is called the window sail correct? If so, where can I get the regular window sail (without the screen) so I can make a custom mount for new tweeters (mine are blown). Would a junk yard be a good place to look first?

Your new tweeters won't mount in the OEM tweeter sail? Have you tried?

The M&T set up for the tweeters is very specific. And the only way that I could mount the aftermarket tweeters in the same location is to "modify" the sail that's already there. And I want to make it as clean as possible that's why Im looking for the plain sails so that I can cut a nice hole to mount the aftermarket tweeters in.

Remove the sails and door panel. The stock tweeter is mounted on a bracket you can take out easily, unscrew the tweeter from the bracket and jb weld the new tweeters in the same location. Works great for 3/4" tweeters, might not for larger ones.

yea a junk yard would be your best shot. or if someone crashed their car and is parting everything out.

Does anyone have a recommendation on tweeters? Should I go with factory (which run about $120 a pair) or go with a good set of aftermarket ones?
