Ok...GT owners...a new poll

Post by Kissfan79 »

How many times per day (assuming you have driven the car that day ) does your Vibe see lift? Just curious Jim

I voted for not every day. I will usually hit lift every other or couple of days when I give her the 'ole WOT. Hard to believe that I was kinda' nervous about going over 4000 RPMs when I first got this car (traded in a Focus ZX3 that cruised at ABOUT 2800 RPMs on the highway) (removed)!!Jim

I don't take mine into lift everyday. I do a lot of around town driving and hitting lift a lot reduces my miles per gallon by quite a bit. I usually take it into lift every other day on the average.

I said not every day since I don't drive the car every day. Seriously, I don't do it too much around town either. Just once in a while it sure feels nice!

when you're talking about lift, do you mean speeds so high the car lifts off the ground and loses traction?or is this some sorta engine terminology i'm unaware of...

It's the technology on the 2ZZ engine that opens the valves further at high RPMs. In this case above ~6K. http://www.corollaperformance.com/TechInfo/VVTLi.html

Ah yeah, DUH! VVTi-L! How do you know when it lifts? Can you feel it kick in or something?

It was often described to me as the same feeling as when a turbo kicks in. Being as I have never owned a turbo, I am not sure if that is accurate. I will say, however, that it definately has a kick when lift engages!! Jim

I do lift about every other day! Don't wanna be a gas hog. Just a for warning though when I did a lift during Feb this year my service engine light came on! I was at about 6400 rpm passing someone! One of the Oil control solinoids went out. Took dealership a bit to figure out went wrong lol! I havn't had any problems since has anyone else?

Every day, like eating an apple. Seriously, when NovaResource says that lift or redlining once a trip is good for your car's engine (I'm too lazy to search for the thread), I completely believe him.

I roll through the gears a couple times be trip hitting lift in at least first and second. Somedays I can hit lift a couple dozen times and probably more. Too bad Yamaha isn't paying me to test the reliablity of their engine
