2003 Vibe GT - Coolant

Post by Mo411 »

My thermostat has been sticking this week here in Michigan so I need to install new one and Coolant. Anyone experience issues or have preferences with a type of coolant. And is the stock Thermostat ok to use as the replacement. With all the different Coolants just wanted a recommendation. Thanks all

Most people recommend the Toyota Red or Pink coolant available at a Toyota dealership. I think the stock thermostat should be sufficient.

I put the Prestone stuff in, twice now and it works just fine.

there is a true life time coolant by Peak. They call it Global $13/gal. It is compatible with all. Plus they warranty your cooling system if you document ithat it was flushed before you changed it to theirs. It's YELLOW. So it takes on the color of anything other coolant in there. I don't recommend Dexcool. Unless you absolutely change it before their 5 year recommendation. The original stuff is PINK Toyata long life. Orange is Dexcool. Don't let anyone tell you different.

It looked orange to me. Under "what to use" the manual said "1/2 clean drinkable water and 1/2 coolant that meets GM Specification 1825-M with a completet coolant flush and refill."
