that is what I tried, Pontiac must have changed the bolt patern and the throttle body size with the 05 DBW. This thing won tmatch up bolt patern regardless of what i do....damn!
Either you're just missing something with the installation or they sent you the wrong spacer. Does it match the picture of blue crushes? I can get the number off my box if you need it.
Digger's AWD doesn't have DBW - it still uses the original throttle body.I'm worried that they changed the bolt pattern with our DBW's... I know BC had some photos of his install (page 1 of this thread - http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...age=1 ) it may be worth comparing and see if that's what you got.If it is, this accessory may not fit. What I think is kind of funny about this mod is that it may generate horsepower - but not like anyone thinks it does, or even how it's advertised. Think of how a golf ball's dimples help it fly farther by generating turbulence around it, or how a pickup truck's tailgate up creates a pocket of air behind the cab - giving it better aerodynamics. What this may be doing, in theory, is generating enough turbulance to keep the main stream of the air away from the heated throttlebody - and also giving a faster, smoother tunnel of air going into the throttlebody. The only time you're probably going to see this advantage is when the throttle plate is at 90 degrees (WOT) where it can't cause turbulance.
Petrucci914 -> The part I have is part 97185. Is that what you have?Bianary -> I read through all of the posts here and on matrixowners about this mod. I researched both sides of the argument (it works, it doest work) even researched the science on this product. It was kind of amusing because the exact same arguments are posted in the S10 forums I also frequent. According to the dynamics of airflow and pressure, this thing should not work on my truck (or for that matter on our vibes). So, I bought it for the whistle sound (I know, sounds like a tool decision), installed it, and it surprised the hell out of me how well the thing worked. I left the battery hooked up, so the PCM didn’t reset, so no other variable changed but the truck had such an improvement that the mud tires break loose every easily now on hard top, and you get pushed back into the seat quite hard when it didn’t do it before. Now I know that personal feeling is not true tangible fact, and personal observation is open to interpretation. So, long story short, it should not have any impact in my truck, it does, so even though it should not have an impact on our vibes, I bet it does as well. In the QA/IT/Programming world A+B=C is not always true. In reality A+B= Not C, and A+B=Other Result. or :A+B= It worksA+B= It doesn’t workA+B= It works and we don’t know why (ie, any Microsoft OS)I agree with you, I think this works but no one understands why.If its all placebo,...then bring on the sugar pills!
That's what the picture on blue crushes shows, as far as numbers. I dunno. You have the same vehicle that he does, right? Those engines were a bit different, 126HP instead of 130? Did the intake manifold change or somethin?
It may be that the DBW have a larger throttle body. I just saw on NewCelica.org that that some are saying the DBW Celica TB's are larger than the DBC Celica TB's. Not sure if they have confirmed it though, nor are they saying if the bolt pattern size has changed.

Sorry, I had to resurrect this old thread:Has anyone tried drilling a hole in this TBI spacer for water injection? I know URD makes one for Toyota's 3.4L, IIRC, but I don't think anyone's done WI through a throttle body spacer. It'd be a clean install if it could be done!http://www.urdusa.com/product_...801ea
I just dropped off my car a couple days ago for a warranty fix on a couple parts and they said nothing about my throttle body spacer OR my strut tower bar! good new so far.
I wanted to take the time out to thank you for posting a link to our website. I ant to offer you a $10.00 off coupon for part number spe-97185 which is the picture that is shown. The code is SSGEN0506Please use this whenever and as many people that want to use it can. Thanks again for the post!!http://www.hubcapsplus.com
just put some gas in since the install of northvibes used helix power tower. I go about 31 to 32 MPG in town driving rough est.(40 MPH or less) now to try it out on the Interstate. i also noticed a little more pep in the low RPM range. It isn't hurting so i'm happy with my purchase.
Just a question,How can you physically tell youve got a 1-3hp increase in a low hp engine? Is the pep basically extra noise, since its not dynoed and wasnt taken to the drag races for timed trials, what are you actually measuring?I am not trying to challenge you on this, but , if someone had installed the unit on your car, without your knowing, would you have been able to tell the difference. To me, more efficiency "should" translate to better gas mileage. So, if your gas mileage consistently increases over a period of say 3 or more tanks of gas, then , this is a measurable change .For example. I also have a >200,000 mile Corolla. I religiously got 30 mpg no better, sometimes 29mpg.After doing Seafoam in the engine intake, I immediately saw 33 mpg and 31.5 mpg. Now , Months later, I am seeing at least 31.5 mpg.So, here, I saw a measurable increase. Thanks
I saw a big diferance in the pep of my 05 AWD. It shifts better. Does not bog down on slight inclines. The MPG dropped at first then got better. I can tell a big differance in mine. I did put a short ram on at the same time though.
2005 AWD What's your story? It's a wonderful thingMomma always said "Help that is not helpful, is no help at all"
Part of basic troubleshooting is to only change one thing at a time.If you change multiple things simultaneously, you dont know where the change in the system came from. So, in this case, we dont know if the perceived improvement is from the stack or spacer. What is your mileage change (based over several tankfulls)?
All I can say is this thing works great. I have a Base auto vibe with the spacer and intake, and the car really came to life after the spacer. Pulleys are next then wheels. But it is a no brain-er get it you will not be disappointed. Thanks to Blue crush for telling me about this great mod. Dominic

Does anyone offer a 2ZZ model? What's the bolt issue related to the 2ZZ? Does the throttle body have a different bolt pattern? I would be happy with a blank with no holes drilled so I can drill or mill my own.

There is one out for the '05-'07 DBW. If you have more than 1" of space between your filter and your fusebox then you should be fine with no cutting. If not, you will need to trim some off.

LOL... Sorry I do have AWD... This is why I didn't chime in on the topic. But since I have installed the spacer I would pay the money just for the sweet POV sound it makes on the highway with out overdrive engaged. I noticed slight gains in the low end of the RPM range.

I heard back from Street&Performance---the spacers are not available and there is no release date for the Throttle Body Spacer for the late model 1.8's w/ DBW (2005-2007).....

Dunno yet but I did the Coolant bypass & seafoam today & my scan gauge was throwing out a retarded 100mpg at 45mph & 2gph idle. Old numbers was 40ish & 3GPH idle. It obviously needs re calibrating lol.The temps reading for the engine water & SR stayed the same 200F & 100F
...Bump... (my first - hope I did it right!) Any release date for the Throttle Body Spacer for the late model 1.8's w/ DBW (2005-2007).....???? I've ordered a TBS for my Wife's '04 Vibe. Hopefully it will improve gas mileage. It has a K&N drop-in filter, but I will likely install either an AEM, INGEN or Cosmo CAI very soon. (as soon as I decide which one!)
