Seatbelt Lights

Post by Aquasax »

Does anyone know how to disable the passenger side Seat Belt flashing light that comes on. It's annoying if there is weight on the seat that isn't actually a person. I don't want to accidentally disconnect the AirBag too. Any suggestions? Thanks...I like

You might just want to buckle the seatbelt instead of disconnecting things, IMHO.Dan

I was just thinking the samething as dlmetzger. I wouldn't disconnect anything. You could do more harm than good. Just leave the seat belt clicked on the passanger side. When someone rides with you hopefully they will have enough sense to undo it and use it.

I guess that's an easy solution. It's just a pain in the (removed) to do that all the time - click it and unclick it. I'm lazy. I just figured someone else may have played around with it already and found a solution.

My thought would be to take a piece of black electrical tape, trim to cover light, and put in over it.

No one ever said you had to un click it everytime. The only time it would be unclicked is if someone was going to ride with you. When you get to where you are going and remove the weight leave it together. So allway leave it clicked even when you get out of the car.

A Ralph Nader safety type would advise that anything heavy enough that will cause the car to sense a weight heavy enough to require a seatbelt, should be stored in the trunk. That would solve the problem. Sorry for being such an old fuddy duddy. cheers! Ken.

Why don't you just fold the front passenger seat forward and put your gear on the plastic cargo tray?

Another solution for this problem is to buy an extra metal clip and just stick it in the holster unattached from the strap.

For the Record - I have no intention of messing with the 'safety devices' - it's a great feature in the driver's seat. Have you seen how sensitive the sensor can be in the passenger side? if you put a magazine on the sensor, it can start blinking - and MAN it get's annoying. When people ride with me - I make them wear their seatbelt (that is unless it's that time where we fit 10 people in the vibe and it just wasn't possible... ) The reason I haven't gone and disconnected anything is because I don't want to disconnect the airbag in the process. It's not a big deal...just a problem i figure other people have had, and I was hoping someone had found a safe solution... (man I sound like a little (removed)...sorry bout that)In other news - has anyone tried the "wet-wax as you dry" stuff? I used zip-it wash last week which has wax in it and it works ok. But man do a lot of bugs lose thier life below the grill!

A more simple solution would be to simply remove the light bulb behind the panel.

Just all ways keep the passanger side seat belt fasten. Then weight or no weight it wont go off.

If you drove a vibe, you would know there is no trunk. A jug of milk or a laptop should not set off the sensor according to the owners manual. That is probably the source of the complaint.

Wow, what a blast from the past. I don't even think any of the above members are still with us. lol! What year is yours, btw? I think I recall reading something in my '03s manual that mentioned the light will be triggered by items sitting in the seat. At any rate, the '03s light is quite sensitive, it takes little to set it off.
