why does it need to go away, I like it where it is, not on my garage floor.I think it allows fuel vapor to be re-introduced into the fuel supply.Something like that... I do know if there is a leak there you will get a CEL. CAN-AWD-VIBE

Back in the day, people would pull the belt off their smog pump because as we all know, anything that runs off the crank will rob power from the engine..BUT... These are electric, I think. If I'm remembering correctly. I don't see how disconnecting it will give you any benefit, only will increase emissions. I can't say for sure though. There was a horsepower decrease that came along with the GT the same year that the smog pump appeared, but horsepower decreased every year after 2003 so who's to say the smog pump did it.

From what I've read around here, I was under the assumption that it is just GT models after 04 or so but I could be mistaken. Not sure where it is or what it looks like though.
