So if I put a CAI or short ram in my base vibe will I see any performance gains from 0-4000 rpms or is it primarily only gonna be at higher? Im asking because I am almost always driving between 0 and 4000 and there wouldnt be much point for me doing it if I wouldn't see any performance gains in that rpm range. If I would see any gains can anybody give me an idea of about how much? Thanks
performance is there in the lower RPMs but the wonderful sound can only be heard above 3000RPM. Gains will mainly be felt in a quicker accelloration, RPM will climb faster. Could seem as though not as much effort is required to get the car moving. From a stop to go, you'll notice the difference, as well as when needing a burst of speed for passing or climbing hills.

With a CAI, you should gain about 8 HP give or take. With a short ram, a little less because the engine is sucking in hot air from the engine compartment.
I still have a stock exhaust but, I did add one of these ..Helix Power Tower Plus The more restrictive exhaust would help in low rpm torque which the stock one has
2005 AWD What's your story? It's a wonderful thingMomma always said "Help that is not helpful, is no help at all"
wait your saying the stock exhaust would be better for low rpm acceleration than replacing it? sorry am confused and have a cold right now so not thinking to well
Usually when you start opening up the breathing of an engine via intake or exhaust, you're shifting the power band from a lower RPM range to a higher one. You usually tend to exchange torque for horsepower.
I don't have CAI, but I have read many posts from owners here and at the Matrix site claiming you are going to lose a little in the low end and take a slight hit on MPG. That may be one reason why so many used ones are for sale.
When I first put on my Borla exhaust I noticed a loss of power off the line. Until the ECU learned and adjusted. After a few days the intial loss was mostly returned but the mid range power increase was very noticable. Once I hit 3200rpm the car would really take off. I then added a couple of pulleys to help with lower end power and that really helped!
