XS Engineering Power Pack II Ignition Amplifier - Installed!

Post by BlueCrush »

I finally got around to installing this after having it for about 4 Months. The install itself was fairly simple. I just needed to fabricate a mounting bracket and find a mounting location. Once I found the location:I fabricated the mounting bracket:I then attached the Power Pack II to the mounting bracket:Then I mounted everything onto the mounting location I had chosen:Next I tackled the cutting of the Ignition coil power lead wires they are the black wire with the white stripe. I first taggedeach wire with colored electrical tape just in case I needed to reconnect them for any reason:Then I cut and stripped the wires:And connected the Ignition Amp per the MR-2 Instructions provided with the unit:(I will be soldering and wrapping the wires at a later date once I am satisfied that the installation was a success)I finished the installation by attaching the black ground wire to the negative terminal of the battery and BAM! Your done:Here is the dyno provided by XS Engineering:I have noticed a small increase in torque but the Ignition Amp won't realize its full potential until I get my e-Manage Dyno Tuned (which won't be until spring after I get my Dyno X-mas present... Heh, Heh)I purchased mine on Ebay for $277 four months ago but now they are $289: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V

Nice work Brian, your Vibe is really kicking (removed)!! Imagine if we could take mods from everyone's car and put them all on one, that would be one sweet-@$$ Vibe!

Thanks, Guys!It amplifies the amount of spark that each coil/plug produces. It will produce more power when fuel is added thru dyno tuning the e-Manage. The dyno that XS Engineering provided shows that it works. I can feel a small increase in power now but there should be more after tuning.

wow i read that graph and was like damn he's pushing 334 hp on the vibe how the hell is he managing that i can see he doesn't have it turbo'd and then i re-read the graph and realized that it was provided by XS as a potential increase. heh.

he's not pushing 334hp. That's just a graph the manufacturer gives to prove their point. Really just a 1 to 2 % increase on a stock engine. But if you have forced induction. It can really help.

The device looks like it's a step-up transformer. Does it kick up the voltage supplied to the coilpacks or just act as a capacitor for the igintion system?I wonder what a vibe would do with 334hp...? (bolted to an appropriatly strong tranaxle...)

It just kicks up the voltage to create greater spark energy.LOL.. If I had 334HP the engine would jump out and leave the rest of the vehicle behind.
