And that will be that for what's left of my paycheck after bills! Without further adeau, heres the pics!Odo at time of install:The box was a lot bigger than I thought it would be!This would be why:The SC itself:Tearin' it up!The stock intake manifold (couldn't believe it was all plastic!):Gettin' it together:The boost gauge in it's temporary home(stalling! )Ta-da!Leftover parts!

Very nice!Man, that makes me consider buying a base and supercharging it. There's a Mustang Cobra that's always pulling into the parking garage as I'm walking out and the whine of the S/C is just amazing.Enjoy it and thanks for posting photos of the install!
Have to get some videos of the car with the new blower! Enjoy!!!

Can't wait to take it to the track, but unfortunately they ran this past Fri and won't again until the Friday after next. That'll really show me what it's done when I can compare #'s. As for the ECU, I used the GM ECU that it came with for now, but still thinking of getting something different if it proves to be worthwhile. The only thing killing me now is the freakin' auto trans, I HATE THIS FREAKIN' TRANS! The shifts actually slow it down instead of speeding it up! I wish I knew how to drive a stick!

I wish I knew how to drive a stick! well i know how to drive a stick, but i'm using the auto. atleast i have sport shift on mine that allows the ECU to rev just under redline perfectly every time. i strongly recommend getting better ECM than what came with the kit. you will get much much better gains. also have the car custom tuned (since you're in CA and i know there are tuners there) once you get all your goodies on the car. the subie guys keep beating me over the head about how i HAVE TO GET ECM'd! hopefully next spring i can afford it, but i'm going with simple like before (unichip for the vibe) and not doing all the super tuner stuff unless i go crazy in a few years and go all out. for daily driving however, i don't need a street tuning kit. if you want the best gains, and especially since you are investing so much $$ in the vibe, i'd definitely go with custom tuning!
Quote, originally posted by trdvibe »if you want the best gains, and especially since you are investing so much $$ in the vibe, i'd definitely go with custom tuning!Yeah, but that's the thing, I really don't have all that much $$$ to spend on the car. If I was paying off my bills I wouldn't have any of this, but being the irresponsible person that I am I would rather spend my $$$$ on my car than my bills! And, as for custom tuning, I have given it thought but that's where $$$$ really comes into play, dyno time, and all that adds up fast!

I really looks sweet. Wish I had the money to do such things. But I have other things that are more important, like a mortgage. Wouldn't it be cool if you could SC that Big Wheel.

how much boost does it push stock?are there any shift kits that could add more a sport shift feel?you could always do that "manual" shift with ur foot off the gas, althou its not the greatest "manual" shift
Quote, originally posted by Mase »Congrats Jason. It's great to see another whiner driving around . Have you turned any heads yet with the sound? Thanks! Yeah, it was funny, the day after I got it installed I had to go to work in the morning. My office is right inside the front doors with lots of windows facing the parking lot. As I was driving up I could see my boss inside and he is a tuner too but with bikes and he was waiting to see it. I mashed the gas as I pulled in the parking lot and all I saw was his head jerk and he started sprinting towards the door! Taking it to the track Fri 30th for Race-Legal.com. Can't wait to see how it improved my times!

No fair! I should be up and running too! Alas, still waiting for Unichip to get their hed out of their (removed). So that's where the boost gauge hose goes. Cool!! Are ya gonna use the 'Supercharged' badges that came with your kit? I'm still debating to stay a 'sleeper' or to show off. Here's mine, Running, but not yet drivable (hopefully on Monday!). Just looks good. And Yes I know your supposed to disconnect the - post on the battery. It was just easier at the time to unplug the +.

As for that gauge hose, the piece they put in the hole of the SC for a temporary plug can be a PITA to get out! I stripped the $hit out of the inside of the plug before managing to jam an allen wrench in there and get it to turn. Andre said he didn't have any problem at all with his, so I guess it'(removed) and miss. Lookin' good!

Got everything installed and running! Finally boosted!! it's a blast! Love the sound of it the most! Even driving 'normally'. Just before my car shifts, you start to hear this pfssst sound from the s/c. A little like a BOV sound but not as loud or as sharp.

Good luck at the track. I'm having surgery done on Thurs. and the last track day of the season is next Fri. I'm not sure I'll be up for it, but I'll try.I tryed once to post a video and it wouldn't work. Maybe I can get a sound file to work for that pop off valve sound of mine.

Quote, originally posted by BlueCrush »How did it go at the track, Jason?Wellllllll....... I wasn't overly happy, but I did do quite a bit better. 1st run sucked as I had a staging probelm and got the red light. 2nd run I just tried gunning it and still got smoked. 3rd and final run I tried a brake-stand and did better, but this f-in auto trans is killing me! I could literally feel the seconds lost waiting for the trans to shift and the supercharger to wind back up. Best time was 10.798@66.67mph 1/8th. Lost to an Acura I think who ran just ahead of me at 10.245@70.20. Finally got my reaction time to drop below a second to 0.985. 60ft was 2.614. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I think with most people the more you do it the better you'll get at it and your times will go down. Good reaction time and not too bad a 60' time. The most important thing is, did you have fun doing it?

If you can at least win every once in a while I think it would be a lot more fun. Most all of the cars that run out here are turbo'ed though, not to mention the fact that they are faster stock as well, so I really don't stand a chance regardless. Maybe if I can figure something out with the trans, find a way to push more boost, and perhaps removing the seats and stuff, I can find a way to get the times down some more. It's just so gay (no offense to anyone, just a term ) to hear that damn trans whining0forever to shift when all the others are dropping immediately. I know the only way I'll really be able to get anything worthwhile from the car is to either swap the engine/trans or go turbo, but I can't afford either!

Do what Lancer is doing. Install a W/I system and an AEM Tru-Power lightened/larger alternator pulley and it'll run 10 PSI. You'll be over 225HP and flying down the track

Jason Damron, San Diego, CA, Supercharged 2004 Vibe base - Gone to the wind My Vibe pics on Cardomain2009 Chevrolet HHR SS!
With the belt it was wierd. Without the s/c, I had the AEM alternator pully and the Unorthodox underdrive crank pully. Alt. pully is bigger than stock, crank pulley is smaller than stock. But I was able to use the stock sized belt. With the s/c I tried running with both pullies, but the belt that came with the s/c was too long (by 1 1/2"). I also only got 3-4 psi with this set up. That's not good enough for me (even though i could hang with a Cobalt SS). So I re-installed the stock crank pully and kept the alt. pully on thinking I'd get a little more the 7psi. I was TOTALLY suprised when I read the boost gauge at 10.5 almost 11psi! And It was all power! I'm going to race on the 7th, I'm sure I'll be in the 14s.(going after Faultlines record on Monkeywrench.com )After switching the crank pully I hoped that the belt that came with the s/c kit would work and luckily it was a perfect fit. I now have 5 belts for my car (one is worn w/50k miles)!A belt only cost $35. The AEM trupower alt. pulley cost I think around $80. That's not bad for 3 more usable psi from a stock s/c. But now I should (and gonna) get WI for $200. A little more power and insurance.

I like the numbers you stated! How did you get those? Does it take into account the intake, header, and exhaust. or just Supercharger numbers? I was thinking at least 200-210.

That is for turbo, though. Your moving much more air @ 10psi with a turbo then you are with a s/c. Yes the psi is the same but the volume is not. I gotta find a Dyno around here!!

Yeah, but 1psi is 1psi thats why with a turbo you can go 20-30 psi gaining 200-300 hp. It's the same for both.Luckily you have a FWD and not an AWD so you shouldn't have problem finding a dyno nearby you. There is only 1 AWD dyno in Minnesota.
