VSS Security System Wiring? (*Ragingfish, help?*)

Post by tnpartsguy »

Need to know if the 4 connectors are already there for the VSS security system. I've attached a picture. The connections for the indicator should be near the rear hatch window button, and the other 3 should be on the right dash, near the top. Mike, or anyone else that has had their dash off, do you recall seeing these? I want to add the VSS, it's pretty much the only option I don't have on mine. It's an indicator, a shock sensor (glass breakage), a relay, and a control module. That's the whole thing, but it was never offered as a kit though GM.

Do you have a larger picture? I can't really see much on that one...

The connectors aren't there. At least, the ones up to the right of the glove box aren't. I looked for them because they had all the connections I needed for a mod, but no such luck.

Ohhh, I just reread, was confused for a sec. Yeah, what GMJAP said is correct, they are not there.

Perhaps that's Toyo's way of saying "get a Viper!"

I really don't need an alarm, I just wanted to add the only 'option' I didn't have. I bought the indicator to use for another project, but can't get a wiring pigtail for it.

I gotcha brother.I contemplated adding a Viper or other alarm to my car, but decided it's not really worth the investment, I don't think it'll be a high profile target. Now if I'm getting a Solstice, perhaps I'll seriously consider it...(note that I BOLDED "if" to ensure that I am NOT sending hints here, merely putting a hypothetical out...)

You don't neccesarily need a Viper. And even still, you don't need to go all-out. For instance..The Rattler series uses the same technology, just doesn't have all the bells & whistles (two-way pager, etc), and is slated for self-install. So you can install it yourself and not worry about the warranty being void. Hornet systems are the same way, and they're all made by the same company.
