OK, bought XM today, need laymans answers

Post by kcinmi »

Im not an electrician, and I hate tearing things apart because I usually dont put them back together. I have a 2004 Vibe, with single CD and Moons and Tunes. What is the simplest way of enabling the head unit to listen to my XM receiver. I have followed this site for awhile, and alot of great ways of eliminating the FM modulator. In SIMPLE terms what do I need to buy to hook directly to the head unit?I bought an Audiovox XCS9 Combo pack, came with everything needed for the car for only $97.00 at Circuit City. Will get pictures after installing. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give me.

EASIEST is wireless FM modulation. If you go with wired FM modulation, it will sound significantly better.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

If you have the BAND button somewhere on your radio, you should be able to get this: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cata....html That's the aux-in that plugs in behind the radio, then you'll need an 1/8" (headphone) to RCA cable you can get from radio shack. Getting to the radio is pretty easy.Ragingfish is right, the -easiest- way is to use FM Modulation. If you're willing to spend a little bit of money, and a little bit of time, the AUX in method is your best bet for clarity.

I have no quamms about pulling the radio and buying something that will let me hook it up directly to the radio. I do have the Band button and the CD/AUX button. Which button would the AUX Box enable? and have all the bugs been worked out of these things yet?

I think the BAND...I don't have one, but there are other threads in the past few days that cover some stuff.
