Here's a fast like 5 minute chop, I'll make a better one later if people want me to. Gonna start on the silver kevlar color in a sec*EDIT* fixed the hood chp pic up a bit
the silver carbon fiber might be something like this though I'm not quite sure how its colored since I've never seen it before so it's hard to make a really representative picture.(this was from a section of normal colored CF hood)

I guess I'll go with it and see how it turns out. Since I plan on painting my car somewhere down the road anyways, it might look cool even with a darker colored car. Thanks smokin!

wow good photochop job that looks like the real silver kevlar.. can someone post that up and when these guys get back to me with the actual pic ill show you how similar almost exact that is..
Well, I think we should get this group buy rollin before my money burns a hole in my pocket! I've been hiding this from all my friends to surprise them when it comes in becuase everytime I tell someone about a part I'm planning to get, the "Jinx God" finds out and completely ruins my plans. Keeping this a secret is killing me!!! I wanna get this thing on order so I have something to look forward to! Let's roll
Hey havock, my advice to get this thing going would be to start a GB thread for only those buying to post their names and what they want, so when we hit 10 people it will be a go and we can start sending the money. We keep counting off and then fading out and then repeating it again. Start an official GB thread and we will post (make sure you say it is ONLY for those buying to post their orders) our orders and get an accurate number as each person posts. just my $0.02 as right now we just keep going round and round and getting nowhere.

No prob on the pins, was just curious. I thought someone else mentioned a hood cover in the other thread. Something to cover the opening while the car is parked and in the rain/snow...do such covers even exist?
Hmmm don't think anyone ever asked but I thought I might as well. This is for the 03-04 hood right because the front of the 05 hood is different. And on that note do you guys want to add a bit of a point to the scoop part of make it flat as the other ones are. If you don't understand what I mean by slightly pointed I can post a picture

If you don't understand what I mean by slightly pointed I can post a pictureOh CRAP...IF they are different, this could present a big problem for Damronj and I...we have '05 front ends coming with the aerogear bodykits!Yes, we need to find out about this...would someone please confirm whether they are different or not? IF they are, guess what...even our OEM hoods won't work!!
It's hard to tell, it might just be the grills. Although even if they were different (which I can't really tell) I would say they would be close enough to fit with the same kits/body claddingAlso, do you guys possibly want to make the shoop this shaped (see picture). Or at least slightly pointed near the bottom of the hood? Or totally flat? Btw, the green part in the picture is potentially where the scoop could be extended.
I heard that its a good idea to have the carbon hoods clear coated before you actually install them to keep the gloss look of it and to preserve the look. Is this true because I've been to alot of car shows and spotted dull and faded carbon fiber hoods. Is there special care instruction for carbon fiber hoods? Oh yeah, is this hood being built for a 03/04 Vibe or a 05? The hoods don't look different just the grills and where the grill top lands just below the hood on the 05s they land just under the front of the hood or just overlapps the grill on the 03/04.
the hoods are already clear coated and there are care instructions with the hoods.. its not like rocket sience or anything so dont worry about that.. but they do come clear coatedalso we can put a point in the scoop no prob but i still need to know if the 05 hoods are that much different that they wont fit.

A point that will run/match the subtle point of our hoods? Smokin', can you chop something?

Yep thats what we mean, I'll try to chop it this afternoon. Its a bit hard to do anything on my computer for the next hr with the sun right behind the monitor blinding me.Ok, hopefully you can see the slight point.
Hmmm, that does look interesting, but I'm not sure if I like it...I like the "clean" look w/o the point better. There's also no "point" on the '05 front ends, so adding one to the hood might make that look weird IMHO.

Well, I don't hear back from the company trying to manufacture a CF Ram-Air hood by tomorrow, I will be joining this group buy on Tuesday evening. I have contacted them numerous times and they keep pushing the date further and further back. Tuesday is D-Day or I'm gone!

So, not having the luxury of living in warm weather...will the hood warp in the winter? If so I'll have to swap them out when it starts to get cold. One more thing, will it fade in the sun? I park in the garage but I was concerned with parking in parking lots.
Its not recommended to run CF in the winter months.. Generally everyone i know that runs their car during the winter swaps out with their stock hood.. Our hoods are clear coated not gel coated thus it will not haze or fade in the sunlight.

Quote, originally posted by Psychobroker »Dude, where are the PICS of that hood?!The hood is sitting in the garage for the winter. As soon as it warms up I'll put it on and take a few pictures. I have a vacation starting on the 25th so if it warms up some by then I'll have her on there. Nevertheless, I'm interested in this new hood that is being made and I'm curious if it has rolled or cut edges. Rolled edges are so much nicer and have a nice clean finish look to it. I might be interested in buying this new one if it's rolled.
our hoods usually have cut edges.. but the new molds have had rolled so ill talk to the guys today and check the progress and if it will have rolled edges or not.. they have kept me out from taking pics.. GRRRRRR so secretive them cf guys some times.. but ill get something soon
Yeah I need to know if I have to start borrowing money and re-mortgaging my tree house to get it shipped or if I can continue saving my $50 a week safely. I want mine by May at the latest so I can show it off at school for a bit before I graduate....but boy let me tell you, those dicks better not throw lunch meat around the parking lot again when we graduate because if I find a piece of bologna on my brand new hood I'm coming in the next day with an M-16 and a bag of grenades.

Doh! He asked me a couple weeks ago if I wanted to be the first to test fit the hood. Then I was a little p.oed that it was only the OEM style. He never mentioned anything about needing to test fit it BEFORE remaking the mold! I just e-maild him today for an update. We'll see what he says.

Quote, originally posted by mac99d »So what is the latest news. I have been watching this post for some time and it just kinda went away. I'm still talking to them, but don't seem to be getting anywhere. They claim they still need a Vibe for test-fit of the OEM cf hood before they will build another style.

But the only catch is that you have to buy it for like $600. At least that was my understanding when I talked to Aaron on the phone. And I told him that VIS has already had an OEM CF hood out for the Vibe for over a year and for much less. I honestly don't think they want to 'bother' making one for us or it would have been done MONTHS ago.

once again I would like to apologize to you guys for starting the group buy.. unfortunately at the time I thought I was working for a reputable company which I have found out I was not.
