Tried installing short ram intake...

Post by chillee »

Well I tried installing a short ram intake, but I didn't have the necessary hardware to finish the job (I needed 2 longer screws for that sensor thingy cuz I just got the intake manifold from a friend). Anyways, I installed the factory intake back in and now the CEL (check engine light) came on and my Vibe is not idling like it used to (Idles between 1200-1400 back and forth). I checked the air lines and didn't notice anything wrong. Any suggestions?

Probably messed up your MAF sensor...Take it out, make sure it's clean and doesn't look bent out of shape or anything...

I thought that the MAF sensor came with it's own screws. That's what I used. Mine works great . Inder

mine worked fine also, used them.but your idle issue, may be a vac prob possibly or as mentioned a MAF problem. However the usual symptoms of a bad MAF is idles fine but you can't rev past 2800rpm.

Well at least with the stock intake back in place, you can play the warranty card...

I had that problem when I first installed my CAI, make sure you put the hoses back in the proper spots if not it will rev back and forth like you said. Good Luck!

Well I took it to the shop and it took them awhile to figure it out. They replaced the intake gasket and now it works fine. Hopefully it will stay like that!
