The place that changes my oil has told me twice now that I need to have my injectors cleaned. They told me it is suppose to be done every 12,000 miles. Ok, so the car is driving absolutely perfecto!! Are they wanting my $70?? Do I need to have this done?? I have put cleaner in the fuel tank, and tried the other option of gunning it a few times on the highway to get goop off of the injectors (but yet I always do that!!) So.....help???

Off topic, but just noticed... North Dallas??? I am originally from Allen TX but am in San Diego in the Navy right now. Just curious. As for the injector cleaning, if it's not listed in the owner's manual as a required maintenance then I would think they are just trying to get your $$. Check the O.M. and see what it says under 12k check-up. If it's not there, I wouldn't do it.

Cleaning injectors is generally not necessary. And if they ever do need it, a bottle of Techron in the tank will take care of it. I throw in a bottle about every 5-10K miles just to make sure everything is clean. Probably unnecessary, but I'm knida (removed) retentive about vehicle maintenance.$70 for an injector cleaning is insane when a $5 bottle of Techron will do the same thing. Or if you're happy with whatever brand of fuel cleaner you're using, stick with that.

Its called preventative maintanence, why wait for it to break when you can service it now and not have it break later? Injector flushes are not a scam or something to wait until you get poor milage to do, here in canada its recommended every 25,000km. However ranges at about $70 CAD.

I saw the topic and thats why I'm asking again..... The guy told me if you use a $5 fuel additive, you get a $5 cleaning, hence my car is at 33,000 miles......do it or not???

I can tell quite a difference after I recently had the injector cleaning/engine decarbon thing done.. Although I was hoping my ticking engine was due to depostis or whatnot, so that was really the main reason I had it done. In the end, the ticking went away until it got cold and now it's back, so that didn't fix it unfortunately. But getting the service done was a good idea, it really made the car run much smoother and has just a bit more pep.Still not exactly sure what exactly it was they did under this service... Mavrik, can you give us a bit of info about what they do for this service? They just called it an "emissions service" on my paperwork... I'm assuming they run a solution through the fuel line to clean the injectors, and in turn makes its way into the engine to help burn up deposits... ? I don't know for sure...My dealer recommends it ever 30K, which I do believe I will keep having it done at that interval. They said GM recommends it every 15K? Regardless, this service definitely can't hurt... May be worth it in the long run. And a bottle of Techron every now and then is a good thing too.

I've been told that Techron is pretty good stuff -- too bad we here in Canada can never find the good stuff! If someone knows where to find Techron in Ontario, let me know. And the absolute BEST engine product I've found has been Seafoam. This stuff is liquid mechanic in a can, I swear.....http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUp.htmMainly motorcycle experience, but I've used it as carb cleaner, fuel system cleaner, oil cleaner, and fuel stabilizer and it's brilliant at all of 'em.Mostly have to get it from the US, but I've been hearing there's been a limited supply for sale around Ontario recently.I'm also told it does wonders for fuel-injection -- so as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on a few more cans I'm going to be giving the Vibe a shot of it too
