Re: $600 '04 AWD parts car in Fresno

Ah yes. Sorry - meant to update. Car sold for $500. The buyer happened to have that AWD tranny needing a car.
Local wrecking yard would offer a lowball figure that appeared MAYBE to be scrap steel value.
Thanks y'all.

Re: $600 '04 AWD parts car in Fresno

You'd think I would know this... I'm pretty sure we had passed the 200k mark not long before the tranny went.

$600 '04 AWD parts car in Fresno

If it weren't AWD, I'd probably have replaced the bad transmission. It did that thing where it only would engage forward in 3rd or 4th (doesn't like starting out) and made horrible noises trying reverse. Limped into my driveway several months ago and there it sits. 2004 Vibe AWD - Took battery out f...

What AWD transmissions fit my 2004?

I have a 2004 AWD Vibe that don't go no more. Well, it goes forward gently, like it's in 3rd gear permanently or something. So, I'm shopping for used automatic transmission that will drop right in with minimal modification if any. I hesitate to snag a tranny from one of those ebay wrecking yards, 'c...

Re: Different years AWD transmission in my 2004?

The strange thing is that it seems ALL my ebay searching results in only FWD transmissions. I have a message in to one of the sellers to verify. Doesn't seem feasible nobody driving an AWD doesn't get in wrecks.
Are there any other Toyotas that use this tranny?
Thanks!

Different years AWD transmission in my 2004?

I have to replace the AWD transmission in my 2004 Vibe. No reverse, no low gears, only goes forward in what seems to be high gear. Fluid is brown and smells burned. Ouch! Ebay has several suppliers that offer warranties, but I'd like to expand my search. I'm coming up empty on my specific transmissi...

No, it was a used one. Well, the replacement has arrived... the clutch spins OK, but I need to double-check compatibility. It's an AC Delco instead of Delphi. And it arrived with a hole in the box. During transit, the compressor had punched a hole in the box, so the suction port was a little exposed....

AC clutch drags?

I just bought a used ac compressor for my '04 AWD, and the clutch seems wrong.Holding the compressor in my hand, the pulley should spin freely unless the clutch coil is energized, RIGHT?Well this one is 'draggy', as in it seems partially engaged and makes scraping sounds when I turn the pulley aroun...

There's a problem with that actuator. I think a search or two will find other threads about it. I think the part was midway between cheap and unreasonable. I've heard things can get stuck in between the blower vanes. Those may not blow out even with compressed air. You might try getting a really good look with a mirror or by pulling the blower out.

I can see the problem with liquid to the evap canister causing damage.I don't see how this causes the symptom of a gas pump constantly shutting off while you're filling. Esteban, please explain the damage you're talking about. Everything up there should be completely fuel proof.I get the impression that there's actually a lot of splash back against the nozzle that causes early shutoff or may be sucking significant amounts of fuel (that I just paid for) back into the...

Holy cripes! The cabin air filter is more dirt & leaves than filter! It would not even come out of its slot without pulling apart. What a mess THAT made! Original, I'd say.

Re: (northvibe)

Most auto parts stores have inexpensive low-side gauges made to charge with the little cans of refrigerant. Without the can attached, they'll function as just the gauge as long as you don't push the charge lever. That will either release refrigerant or suck in air, depending on what the system is do...
