Re: Dealing with a Check Engine warning

They cleared the check engine light but also changed the oil level to the recommended level. The check engine light has not come on again. Thanks for the helpful comme...

Re: Dealing with a Check Engine warning

Just checked the oil level and see that the oil on the dipstick is about 5/8th of an inch above the maximum line. Does that make the car dangerous to drive?

The closest auto parts place is an AutoZone store. Their website doesn't say anything about free code reading and does advertise code readers that you have to pay for. Does anybody know if they do code checks for free?

Dealing with a Check Engine warning

The Check Engine light has come on in my 2004 Vibe and I need some advice on how to deal with it. Ten days ago I took the Vibe to a Monro repair shop for an oil change. The manager then convinced me to buy a new set of tires and have a wheel alignment. Last night I drove the Vibe for the first time ...

Re: Need oil change advice

Thanks for all the good advice. Most of the numbers and letters on the oil cap have worn off but I did get 5W30 SN oil. Didn't see the advice not to get the synthetic blend until after my visit to Monro, so I did go for that. Will check to see that all is in order. Thanks again.

Need oil change advice

I have a 2004 Vibe with about 93,500 miles on it and have only driven it 3,555 miles in the past year. I'd like to follow the manufacturer's recommendations about oil changes but have been having difficulties doing that. I'm 82 years old and don't feel capable of doing it myself and the nearest deal...

The brake fluid level was down and I added what looked like nine or ten ounces of fluid. Now the brake light goes off. So should I assume there's a leak and if so how critical is it that I take the Vibe into a repair shop?

Brake Light Stays On

I have a 2004 Vibe with 89 thousand miles on it. I now drive it about 2000 miles a year. I had a brake job done about three, maybe four, years ago and the brakes still seem to be working OK. However, the brake light has come on and stays on. The parking brake is not engaged, so there's obviously so...

AC not working - light doesn't come on

I have a 2004 Vibe with about 85,500 miles on it. Last summer the AC started blowing hot air, so I took it to an independent repair shop where they found a leak and fixed the problem. But now the AC has stopped working altogether -- the AC light doesn't come on and it doesn't blow any air, hot or c...

Ball joints on each end. According to the manual you pretty much remove the retainer clips then just pry them off. Upper end comes off first. Sounds easy, but I can't figure out how to do it. I don't see anything that looks like retainer clips and the part that fits over the ball is tightly constru...

The check engine light was still on after eight trips, so I went to an AutoZone store and its device showed that the light probably was the result of a loose gas cap. They turned off the light and it hasn't reappeared, two trips later. Thanks for the help on this.
