Re: DIY tints from ebay? (nittanydoug)

I bought the kit from ebay, was cheap, worked fine. Left the same tint that is standard. No front windows installed, illegal in IL. All went in perfect, well almost perfect. Rear window didn't work due to the curve, struggled with it for an hour then just decided not to install. Some say a heat gun ...

Really? Do you know why it ticks and why I would hear it more after the SRI is installed? Oh and I purchased the aFe as per your top 3 list. Thanks!!

aFe SRI Installed

Just installed the aFe SRI this weekend, took about an hour. Noticable power increase, throatier exhaust note, better throttle response. I have noticed clicking coming from the cruise control module though. Maybe the computer is making adjustments. At first the clicking was only when the rpm's were ...

Re: Transmission noise, maybe (Caretaker)

No I haven't noticed that secondary noise. Maybe some vacuum hose or something? There has to be others out there with the same sound. I do tend to notice every little sound, vibration or anything out of the ordinary, due to my un rational fear of something going wrong with my cars. Probably from the...

Re: Transmission noise, maybe (Caretaker)

Yes, you have the same thing, it does seem to go away after about 5 seconds, but I always just shift into neutral, that makes me think it is related to the transmission. Well if you have been experiencing it for over 60k miles then probably nothing to worry about I guess. It does seem to happen when...

Transmission noise, maybe

Recently I have noticed a strange sound coming from my car. It happens when stopped, the car is running and still in gear. At first I thought it was a distant crotch-rocket accelerating, that kind if progressively increasing high pitch acceleration sound. It isn't very loud. I turned down the radio ...

Need to replace the front caliper piston boot

Just replaced my from pads and rotors. When I had the drivers side caliper apart I noticed that the piston boot was tore. Looks like the knuckle-head who replaced the pads before, installed with the boot between the piston and the pad, so now it is tore/damaged. I did a search for the brake piston a...

Re: (Kincaid)

Well most of my driving is stop and go. I did find an AFE with Pro Dry S filter for a bit over $200 and free shipping, I think I am going with that. I was also considering the Secret Weapon, but it seems like hype and no heat shield. I do like the ram air option of the SW though. Now do you guys bel...

AFE vs. K&N vs. Cosmo

After a long trip across the midwest from Chicago to Rapid City, with my Vibe full of gear and two bikes on top, I've decided it is truly a dog on the highway. I have looked at ways to increase power a bit and have decided on a SRI. I decided against the CAI due to the deep snow, slush and salt in t...

I work as IT for GE Healthcare, support about 700 users and all together GE has over 100,000 employees world wide, not issues here. Keep the virus definitions up to date and the Windows patches, you should be ok.

Re: All-wheel drive not working?! (NJVibe04Salsa)

It is hard to tell, I am thinking of showing this video to the dealer, but I might just wait until next winter, it is so much work, and I am sure they are tired of me by now. I wish there was a technical service bulletin or something that would prove to the service centers that there is a problem. D...

VersaTrak fluid is differential fluid "oil" for GM vehicles, the technician doesn't know what he is talking about. You can buy it here http://paceperformance.com/ind...74593I suggest just taking your car to the Toyota dealer in your area. It cost me about $50 for them to look at and diagno...

Re: (NJVibe04Salsa)

I downloaded the 03 Matrix manual here, http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RK4K5SVSI can't find anything in it about the VC, can anyone else? I see what I thought was the VC in front of the differential, but it doesn't seem to be it, they call it a coupling.

Re: maple keys in air filter box (Casper60)

I had a mouse living in my Altima airbox, liked birdseed, didn't realize for awhile. Oil was black, changed and after a short time it would turn dark brown/black. Eventually the timing chain broke, destroyed engine, had to replace, I still blame the mice. I set and check traps in my garage, also fre...

Re: All-wheel drive not working?! (tnpartsguy)

Well, I had the rear diff replaced yesterday and it did remedy the 'whining' noise, they replaced it with a salvaged part, which is OK. No snow so hard to tell if AWD is working now, did spin the front wheels at a stop light to see if I could feel the rear wheels get power and it didn't seem like th...

Re: Gas Mileage (NJVibe04Salsa)

I have the same problem, AWD, not working, bad mileage, 20-23 in town, about 30 highway, winter time. I also get a whining noise from the rear at about 20 to 30 mph, sounds like the differential. I did purchase the car used just about 2 months ago. Bought an extended warranty from the Nissan dealer....

Re: All-wheel drive not working?! (abyssvibeawd)

Well, the extended warranty company will only let you use it at the dealer you bought it from if you are within 40 miles of the dealer, and if you are out of the 40 miles the selling dealer has to approve it. So I am taking it back to the Nissan dealer Tuesday. I looked at the Toyota diagnostic and ...

Took the Vibe to Toyota dealer, told them the issue, about 45 minutes later, they tell me the rear differential is bad and needs to be replaced, $1700 estimate. So luckily I purchased an extended warranty and they are going to contact me tomorrow after they contact the warranty company. Now I mentio...

Re: All-wheel drive not working?! (NJVibe04Salsa)

I was experiencing the same problem, didn't seem like rear wheels were producing any torque. I contacted the dealer I purchased it from used, took it to them and they said it is fine. They did the same test, raise up on rack, and all 4 wheels spin. I explained to try to stop the back wheels and they...
