Just replaced my from pads and rotors. When I had the drivers side caliper apart I noticed that the piston boot was tore. Looks like the knuckle-head who replaced the pads before, installed with the boot between the piston and the pad, so now it is tore/damaged. I did a search for the brake piston and cylinder boot but can't find them anywhere. It seems to be a pretty easy thing to replace. There is a set ring that holds it in and can be removed with a screw driver. Does anyone have a part number or know where I can get one. Didn't want to replace the entire caliper for such a small part, but I do know if water gets in there it will cease up. Thanks for the help.
Do you have a local parts store? a phone book?LoL, i'm sorry, welcome to GV... I think sometimes people forget that their fingers can do the walking through the yellow pages and telephone as easily is the interwebz.. lol..
My foreman always told me to bleed off pocket of air inside the piston boot by lifting the boot slightly before you side reinstall the caliper. that why the shim won't cut the boot when slide the caliper back into the position.
