After some time of driving, would you please report back if these springs are any more comfortable than the original springs?

Re: My Monroe Quick-Strut Story

Well, got the quick struts installed on all 4 corners this weekend. Ran into a couple a problems. 1. My lug nuts are becoming rounded, making it harder to get them off. One in particular was too rounded to get off so I had to drive to a tire shop and have them remove it for me. My father-in-law has ...

Re: My Monroe Quick-Strut Story

I've had the monroe quick struts on my car for about a year with no problems. I tightened them with no problems at all. I used the original nuts for the studs on my car instead of the new ones provided. I think using the new nuts they provide is why you hear a lot about the studs breaking off becau...

Re: My Monroe Quick-Strut Story

I'm also going to monitor the top mounting studs extra carefully for the next few months to see if any break. I drove the car a very small amount with one broken stud and I didn't have any problems... I only went a few miles though, nothing long distance. Resurrecting an old thread as I'm getting r...

Re: Gas tank overflow

ya broke the check valve after topping off your gas tank repeatedly This is possible as I used to top off my tank on a fairly regular basis and then stopped this a while back. Is it hard to fix? I went to fill up the Vibe a few minutes ago and it did it again. I've even been to different gas statio...

Gas tank overflow

Lately everytime I fill up my gas tank, some gas will overflow and run down the side of the car. After the nozzle automatically shuts off I never add more. It's been happening just about everytime I fill up now. It hasn't always done this though. I usually fill up once a week at 1 of 2 stations clos...

Re: How much damage will this cause? (dgekiere)

The access hole in the center, is that where the fuel pump sits? If so, is it a pain to take out? Does it simply unbolt and pull right out?

Re: How much damage will this cause? (jkm311)

After speaking with my mechanic and doing some research online (apparently this happens to people more than you think) it appears this is very unlikely to cause any damage and should be fine. I'm not normally one to let something like this go and it will probably be in the back of my mind for a litt...

Re: How much damage will this cause? (joatmon)

Did not know there was an access port to the gas tank under the rear seat. Any idea how big the port is? Would I be able to reach my hand in and fish around for it?

How much damage will this cause?

I was putting some lucas oil gas treatment in my car this morning before I filled it up. I accidentially dropped the cap from the bottle into the gas tank. Right down the filler tube it went! It's from the 32 oz. bottle so it's a cone shape, not the round cap from the smaller bottles. Obviously my f...

Does anybody know the part # for this piece? Do the vibe and matrix use the same part? The reason I ask is b/c it appears the matrix part is much cheaper than the vibe part, $14.16 vs. $57.02.

Re: Here's to another 100K :) (epcIII)

Thanks! I was kind of dreading it. I bought it used 2 1/2 years ago with about 54K on it. Just about all the cars I've owned have been high mileage cars too. I tried to make it to 200K in a '93 civic but someone hit me from behind and totaled the car. The Vibe is paid for and runs great. The goal is...

What's this noise?!

It's driving me crazy. Whenever I accelerate or decelerate (or make a turn) there is what sounds like a ball bearing rolling back and forth somewhere around front passenger area. I thought it was coming from inside the door so I removed the interior door panel but found nothing. Now I'm thinking it'...

Sounds like the best solution is to use velcro or just let it be. Thanks for the replies!

Best way to fix this...

My vibe has a little over 97,000 miles on it and the interior is holding up very nicely, except for what you see in the pics. Before I go slapping some super glue on this, I as wondering if there might be a better way to fix this?

Exhaust noise or tire noise??

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my 03 base vibe was louder than usual while going down the highway. Specifically around 65 mph it is the worse, below 60 mph and above 70 mph it is fine. It's a low bass/drone type sound (but is annoyingly loud inside the car). To me is sounded like it was the ex...

Need pics of bikes on factory roof rack

I'm looking to put a road bike on my 2003 base vibe. I will probably purchase the accessories from Yakima. I've seen set ups such as this http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=32320. I'd like to mount the 4 lowriders on the factory side rails. I assume if I do this and have the bike facing forward...

Just a quick update. Turns out it was the heater core being clogged. My mechanic took it to a radiator shop that specializes in heating and cooling systems and they were able to hook a special tool up to the heater core and blow all the junk out. Heat works great now! They said if the heater core ne...

I just checked it and it needed a little coolant. The coolant level in the overflow tank is half way between the Hot and Cold lines.

Bad heater core?

I Purchased a 2003 base vibe with 53,000 miles on it this past October. The problem I have is that there is little or no heat coming out of the vents. This has been more noticeable with the extremely cold temps this past week.In the mornings I will warm the car up for about 20 minutes to defrost the...
