Re: (pmh013)

I'm at sea level on the other side of the country (Halifax). I have a base 5spd. I will get 7-8 L/100km in the city, and 6-7 L/100km on the highway. It's a little worse if it's really really cold out. It's a lot worse if the bikes or the canoe is on the top and/or if she's loaded down with gear. As ...

Re: Front End Rattle Solved.....Maybe? (Mavrik)

I've had a rattle on sharp bumps coming from the front right side of the car too. Had it in a few days ago and they cleaned and lubed the upper strut mount. Haven't confirmed 100% yet, but I think this has solved the rattling.CHEERS!

Re: ate the tank of gas (vibechick03)

I've been keeping track of my mileage fairly regularly. I find that wind has a HUGE impact in how much gas the Vibe uses (base 5spd). Into a strong wind it can chew the gas hard, and with a wind at your back you can go forever on a tank. The wind plays an even larger role if my bikes or the canoe is...

Re: Windshield Fogging & Frosting on the INSIDE ! Anyone else have this problem? (ragingfish)

There's nothing wrong here folks. When you park most cars, if you leave the heating controls switched to defrost on the windshield, and if you leave the heat setting on high, then warm air will continue to rise from the defrost vents after you've parked. The warm are rises and hits your now cool or ...

Transmission slipping?

Hi everyone,I have a base 5spd. When I park the car on a slight incline, if I do not engage the emergency brake, then the transmission will slip and the car will proceed slowly down the hill. Is this normal or is this a sign of a clutch gone bad - already? I usually park with the emergency brake on,...

Re: 2003 Vibe Two-Tone Cladding Issue - Revised TSB Released! (microELVIS)

I'm in Canada too and I took my car with the TSB # to my dealership yesterday. They looked and looked, but found nothing about this issue. They said that they'd still consider replacing it after a "rep" looked at it to determine if it was bad, but there was no TSB that they were arare of.

Re: Effect of RPMs on fuel economy (MadBill)

Thanks, I was under the impression that higher RPMs and less throttle was the way to better economy, but it seems as though I was wrong. Question - I thought that lugging the engine at low RPMs and full throttle was bad for an engine, is there any truth to this? Or will this not affect an engines du...

Effect of RPMs on fuel economy

Hi there!I don't know if any of you can help me out with this question:I find that my manual base Vibe lugs at best, and typically slows down, on long hills on the highway. I use cruise control, and the RPMs are pretty low at 110 kph, so it doesn't handle the hills so well because there's not much t...

Re: Rattle in door panel (ragingfish)

I had a rattle in my drivers side front door too. It sounded like a nut rolling around when I stopped and started. The dealer took it apart and it was some sort of loose wire or something that was getting shifted around when the car moved. They secured it, and there's been no problems since. I do st...

Re: Supercharger Accessory Kit (slbpsi63)

I'm really excited about the S/C for the Vibe, but here's a question for you all:There's been a lot of talk on this site about premature manual transmission problems, particularly with the GT - perhaps due to higher horsepower, revs, etc., when compared to the base Vibe. So, what affect is the incre...

Slight hesitation

I have a base Vibe - 5spd. When I accelerate hard (pedal to the floor) and run the engine up to redline in the gears, I sense along the way up the RPMs a couple of very slight, but obvioulsy noticeable, hesitations in the engine, like a little tiny hiccup. It's more noticeable in first and second ge...

Rattling sound in passenger side front

The left side of my car is really solid when hitting bumps. However, I have a rattling sound in the front right of the car when hitting some bumps with the right side. It doesn't happen all the time with every bump, but it happens regularly and regardless of speed. It sounds like a loose container b...

Re: Lack of power? (NovaResource)

I have about 6500 km's on right now (I'm in Canada). At highway speeds, in 5th gear, I'm holding less than 3000 RPM's. I find when I hit a hill, if I didn't gear down in anticipation of the hill, then the engine bogs down and my speed slows. I can gear down to 4th at this point and I can maintain sp...

Lack of power?

I have the base Vibe, FWD, 5spd. Is it just me, or does this car's power suck on the highway? I have to gear down on every hill, sometimes into 3rd on large long hills. And even with that, my foot is to the floor just to maintain speed. And God help me if I'm fighting a strong head wind. I practical...
