Re: (LarryKingsShoes)

Ah, interesting, thanks for the extra research. All i know is that the regular db651 speakers did not fit in the door without some kind of modification. LarryKingShoes is right, it didn't fit in back when mounted on the door, and the speaker stuck out too much in front when using the previous mount. ...

My db651 (non slim) did not fit, and according to their specs they are 1 5/8" top mount.http://www.polkaudio.com/carau...db651/I mounted mine to the plastic on the inside of the door. Another option I've read is to stack a few of the speaker mount rings until you get the clearance to open the w...

Re: BlueCrush's Head Unit install (epcIII)

When I did it I grounded the head unit and the scoche all together with the ground lead from the harness. I figured that would be the safest way to go. What HU do you have, by the way? Is it particularly powerful? I put in a 50 W/chan Pioneer premier and actually I didn't need to use the scoche much...

Did you have sound out of all speakers when you first installed it? If you have sound out of your other speakers it could just be a loose wire, perhaps.

Re: Moon & Tunes Owners: Aftermarket HU Installation Tip (bonesmurones)

bonesmurones, the factory wiring goes through the amp, so I don't think you would get significantly better sound if you ran a new pre-amp out and it would be more difficult. In particular, since you are using the stock speakers, I am guessing that it won't make a difference.Do give some thought to u...

Newegg.com has the Polk db651 on sale for $50 right now, in case you are interested. I didn't use the speaker adapter from Crutchfield with mine, I used the one that came with the Polks. I did need the +/- wire adapter, however.

I tried it by locking, waiting a bit, then unlocking from the inside and opening the door from the outside and still no alarm. That blinking LED on the old headunit must have been a decoy. Huh.

Re: Stock security system, how to test, is mine broken? (MotoXdog)

I think that L5K is right, the LED on the headunit is just a decoy. I don't have the light to the left of the steering wheel, so I assume I don't actually have the security system.
