Questions about replacing headunit & speakers on 2004 Moon & Tunes w/ 6-speakers

Post by spacemonkey »

I just realized that I have the Moon & Tunes option (I bought my 2004 Vibe used). I see the small tweeters in the doors and the amp under the passenger seat. I guess that is a good thing, right?I have a few questions... 1- Any special wiring for the amp? I ordered from Crutchfield and got their recommended wiring harness 2- What happens to the tweeters mounted on the upper door when I replace the speakers? Do they still work? 3- I ordered two pairs of Polk Audio db651, for front and back, I assume the tweeters in those are better, right? Are they still used?I read cohocarl's advice, http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785, which really helpsThanks in advance for any and all advice! This is a very useful forum!

If I replace the headunit, will the alarm system still work?

the alarm system will still work, no issue.. You may look at BlueCrush or KeithVibes install tutorials, I think one of them deals with M&T.. You might need s LOC or line output converter to mate to the M&T amp.. not 100% sure.. You won't use the factory tweeters, they will just be disconnected, trust me, you are better for it.. lol.. The Polk Db's are a fine choice..
